I can't believe I never had one of these before. I stay in my camper when working out of town. In the winter I would make up hoses with heat tape and insulation all taped up. This thing works in sub zero weather without insulation. This allows it to be used to heat the sewer line as well.
Just route it under the sewer line and if its really cold just wrap the hose up with the sewer line cover. Thermostat is on the male end at the camper connection and the A/C plug is at the faucet end.

We have 5 horses and live in NE Ohio so it can get pretty cold. This used to require dragging the hose out of the house, watering, draining it and dragging it back in and it sitting in our dining room until spring. No matter how much we drained it, it always seemed to freeze if left outside. I bought one of these from a friend who needed a longer one and my life is SO much easier!! I don't even keep it plugged in all the time. I plug it in about 15 minutes before I need to use it and whatever ice is in there thaws and I can use it. I always unhook it from the spigot when not in use. I use this on the end (http://www.amazon.com/Gilmour-Garden-Connector-Shut-Off-03V/dp/B0006U66B6/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1297284033&sr=8-6) and I don't even take that off-I just make sure that it is open and pointing down so any water can drain out before it freezes.
My only complaint is that the hose is pretty stiff. It gets better (it got better even after using it once) and I think it is well worth it to have this hose.

We purchased this heated hose for use in our barn and it arrived about December 15th 2010 (today is Jan 3rd, 2011).. We used the hose through the winter months of 2010 and in March we put it up in the barn storage for the summer months.. Last week I brought down the hose and connected it up and plugged it in since this is the first time were heading in to freezing temps.. and last night is the first time the temps got down to about 25 degrees ( or colder).. to my surprise I went to top off our horses' buckets and the hose was frozen up solid.. Keep in mind, were about 2 weeks after having it for the year.. but I figured it was up in the storage area for 6 months... I contacted the seller and got a note back that there is nothing they can do for us... (2 weeks.. are you kidding me)... Well, I"M off to contact the manufacturer and see if they will do anything for us.. I just thought I'd write this in the review section as it obviously failed in the first year.... but unless it's freezing out... there is no way to check it.. so, I'm out $124.00 for the 6 months usage... Live and Learn. Good News, I just got off the phone with the Manufacture.. they are determnied to help me out . they have given me some suggestions to check and see if I can get the thermostat reset... if not, they seem like they will help in a possible replacment.. I am a happy gator that I actualy got to speak someone at the company and get some help.. Keep watching I'll update the post as I get this resolved.
