Pitfall Harry's son lives up to his dad,

This review is from: PITFALL 3D: Beyond The Jungle (Sony PlayStation) (Video Game)
I have played every version of Pitfall. The 3-D version is the best. Each world requires you to figure out complicated moves to grab the treasures, fight the monsters, and complete the task that will get you to the next level. It's not just for kids anymore. Harry's comments also help break up some of the harrowing moments as you try to swing from diamonds hanging in the sky, or spin and jump to release levers and capture treasure. A must for Pitfall fans.

A good camera should keep your character perfectly focused on the center of the screen. Pitfall 3D's camera swings all over the place, as if it were attached to a vine. Sometimes your character is on the left of the screen; sometimes the right. It gives me a feeling of vertigo and I have to take a break every 15 minutes otherwise I get sick.
As for the game itself, it's basically Pitfall 1 and 2 but in three dimensions. They opening/closing pits are still there, as are the rolling logs and swinging vines. Activision added some crystals to collect, but otherwise it's the same old game. |
