P'Kolino Little Sofa -Sleeper, Green

This little couch was the perfect fit for my 14-month old! It is the right height for him to sit on, and it is so cushy when it is folded out that he enjoys sitting on the pad to play. Even though it is comfortable it holds its shape very well and doesn't look cheap like the character ones in every store. I was afraid the green color would be too neon or lime, but the colors are nice, still kid-looking but muted enough so that it doesn't stand out in my house. Overall I am very happy with this product....I don't mind paying twice as much as long as the product is twice as good, and this is!

I had no problems with shipping or quality of the product delivered. Sofa was as described, and looked great (I would say higher quality than comparably priced kid sofas). My only complaint is that the sofa smelled a little of chemicals - on sunny days I leave it out to try and let the smells off-gas outside, rather than in my daughter's room.

This little sleeper sofa was an instant hit with my 1 1/2 year-old son, who loves to read and arrange his stuffed animals on it. The fabric is also very stain-resistant and wipes clean with a damp cloth. That said, this sofa reeked of chemicals for a week after we first unboxed it. The smell was akin to nail polish remover and made me question if in fact this sofa is made of the "highest quality materials" as advertised. I'd be curious to know if P'Kolino could guarantee that this sofa is made with non-toxic materials.

A customer representative from P'Kolino very promptly responded to my complaint (see my original review below) with the following explanation:

"The Little Sofa/Sleeper is most definitely not loaded with chemicals. It would not pass the US, EU, and Canadian safety standards like it has if that were so. The smell you were smelling was the stain retardant that is put on all of our Sofa/Sleepers and Little Reader Chairs (our best selling item). The smell you are experiencing is not a common thing, however it has happened before. The reason being...during the production process, after the stain retardant was put on, the item must not have had enough time to dry before it was packaged. Then it sits in a box for 2-3 weeks while being shipped to the states, and then a few more weeks at the Amazon warehouse (or any warehouse, depends where you purchase it from). So basically the smell is trapped and once the customer receives the item and opens the box the smell is very strong. It does air out - we have had customers leave it outside for a day or two - but we have also sent replacements to customers who simply just want an exchange. We understand that it could cause concern, but there is no reason to react more strongly than necessary."

That's a perfectly acceptable explanation and I've adjusted my review from 1-star to 3-star based on it. That said, based on other reviews, the odor from the stain retardant is obviously an issue and I question some of the quality control the manufacturer has in place.

"I was stunned by the chemical odor emanating from the P'Kolino Little Sofa-Sleeper upon it's arrival. It smelled so disgusting that I never even took the thing out of the box. I wanted to call the EPA because I thought my house might be declared a Superfund site. I get that my kid is going to be exposed to loads of chemicals, it's just a fact of life, but I don't see any reason why I should stick this chemical time bomb in his room. I wouldn't let my worst enemy near this thing, much less my child. I'm emailing this review to the manufacturer to see if they'll respond and explain."

I am glad I bought this for my 18-month-old. I wanted it to match her purple chair by the same manufacturer, but unfortunately it only came in unattractive colors, such as pea green and a muted pinkish red. I think it is a really high quality sofa, but I still ask adults not to sit on the baby's sofa for concern that it will get worn down.

It opens to a sleeper sofa, so if your toddlers are more mellow than mine, they might actually nap on it, which would be very convenient for most people.

Great purchase, bad colors.

About the size I expected it to be. Quality was much better than expected. Very impressed and love the price. I shopped around and the only chair like this at a lower price was the Disney themed chairs, which seemed to be cheaply made. Pottery barn for kids sells the same type of chair for $200.

I was looking for a durable fold out child sofa for my daughter that wasn't covered in cartoon characters. This one fits the bill, looks great in our living room and our daughter loves it! It arrived super fast and we are thrilled with the product. I will definitely buy more P'kolino items in the future

We were looking for a sofa or chair that both our kids could enjoy. We had previously bought our son a cheap foam character couch but it quickly fell apart and I constantly had to wash the cover since it didn't wipe clean very well. This set looked like it would be small enough for our one year old but durable enough to stand up to our rambunctious almost three year old. We ordered both the couch and chair in "red" and so far we love it. They can move it around the living room easily and both can sit on the couch together with plenty of space. It also seems easy to clean although I'm not sure down the road how it will work not being able to wash the covers since they don't come off. I would say it is more pink than red, so for us it works but I would have been disappointed if we purchased solely for our son and expected a RED sofa. Definitely a good durable kids piece of furniture that I would recommend to anyone looking to give their kids a seat of their own.

We purchased this sofa for our 18 month old son, who at the time could not make it up to our sofa on his own. As soon as we took it out of the box he ran to it. I was afraid there might be a chemical smell like some of the other rewiewers experienced but nothing strange on ours. That was good because I don't think my son would have permitted me to take it away. He loves it, he sits, climbs, jumps and lays on it. It is very durable with the heavy use my son gives it. It has been one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon.

This is definitely one of the more modern/stylish/affordable seating options for kids, but unfortunately doesn't really have a long life IMO. Just about fits my 34" 2-year-old and one of his friends, but is way too small for my 44" 4.5 year old. When pulled out it only fits my 2yr-old but there's no way my 4.5yr-old can lie down in it. Disappointed, as the P'Kolino website says it's good for kids 2-6+. I would honestly say it's for 9mos-3yrs max. Great option if you have a small room/space for your children, but not if you want something to grow with your children.
