I was thrilled to order this highly recommended product and excited when it arrived. However before I installed it I was warned by the local Arizona Polaris and Artic Cat dealers not to use it cause it fails to keep out the fine desert dust here. That is amazing! So not to risk ruining my engine nor violating my warranty, I stayed with the manufacturer's air filter for now. Fortunately I will be going north for the summer and will use the K&N there.

I purchased this product based in prior experiance with K&N in automotive aplications, however this time I am disapointed with the level of protection this product offer for the particular application it has been designed. You see I had put this filter in a high performance car for normal road use and it work great but if you put it in an off road vehicle in this case a Polaris RZR-S it give you poor protection due to it let pass fine dust into the intake system of the engine even after just 3 to 4 hours of use. I clened the filter every single day I go out to the trails in my RZR and every single time I cleaned it I find traces of dust in the intake trac passed the filter. The only adventage you get for this application is that you can wash and re use the filter over and over. Other than that the stock filter performe almost the same if not worse at the cost of replacement of the filter every day you go out. On top of that the K&N filter are expensive and it get more expensive as you have to buy the cleaning kit to clean and re oil the filter evry time you clean it.
So I think in this particular application K&N are not worth the money. I going to try another filter which I have used in the pass in cars and may be I can get better results in addition to cut down the expense of buying the cleaning kit, this filter is the aFe brand dry type.
Good luck with the K&N.

I read each and every review that has been posted here, and I bought this filter for my 2010 Rzr 800. I then went to Moab with it installed. The vehicle had only been started long enough to load on the trailer. After less than three hours of riding, my vehicle quit running. The outside of the air filter looked good, but I took it off anyway. To make a long story short, the talcum powder fine dust around Moab had gone through the filter, and all the way into the engine. After cleaning the sensors, I was able to restart it, but the dust had gotten into the valves and rings and ruined the engine compression. I have used K&N filters in my trucks and cars for years, and have been very satisfied. However, if you are planning on trailing around Moab, or other similar places, I could not recommend using this filter.

I have a 2008 Polaris Razr and have used K&N filters on motorcycles for years.
If you ride in an area of extended fine dust then DO NOT even think of this filter. Long story short, dreaded dirt trail into motor = rebuilt top end!!
Stay with the stock or go ump system!!!

Much larger filter than the stock filter. Came with the pre-filter boot which was nice. Fits perfectly and has performed well.

K&N filters provide far more protection than OEM filters. Cleaning is easy and over time even cheaper than OEM filters. Can be reused many times. The OEM filter on the Polaris RZR is way too small for the engine. A common problem for RZR 800 is sucking dust into engine; therefore premature engine failure. One reason is filter too small. The RZR engine is high compression and sucks a LOT of air. This overwhelms the OEM filter and results in dust sucked right through the filter. The K&N is more than twicee the size of the OEM filter so provides far more surface area to catch dust. This also means less sucking pressure per square inch. Bottom line is more protection for engine. Still a good idea to check your engine for dust by passing filter now and then. Remove filter and look down intake with a flash light. If you see dust wet a rag with spray silicone. Wipe out intake passage carefully. If there's a lot of dust then clean more often.

Have not had enough time to give a good evaluation, but looking at the quality of this filter, I think it will do the trick,
especially with this new dust sleeve I got with it, ask again in a couple of months
