4.0 out of 5 stars Solid little eco-friendly light
Customer Video Review     Length:: 1:26 Mins
Hi Folks,

This is just a quick view of the Solar Bike Light in action. I'm a bike and gadget-obsessed guy who lives in the Pacific Northwest. This is more an unboxing than a review, I'll have to come back later and update y'all as to how the light holds up to the weather and nightly use.

Keep 'em rolling,

Kent

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Craftsmanship
Stay far away from these lights.

The Positives:
1. They light up, not only in the front, but all the way around. Very strong, bright red lights - with great visibility.
2. Solar - no batteries ever needed.
3. They swivel. Behind the seatpost, this light is clamped closely to the seatpost stem, so the back button may have been hard to get...

Stay far away from these lights.

The Positives:
1. They light up, not only in the front, but all the way around. Very strong, bright red lights - with great visibility.
2. Solar - no batteries ever needed.
3. They swivel. Behind the seatpost, this light is clamped closely to the seatpost stem, so the back button may have been hard to get to, but the lights swivel easily on their mounts to give easy access to the power button.
4. They detach easily just by gently pushing down on a plastic button.

The NEGATIVE:
1. I bought five of these (I often ride at night in high traffic areas so I wanted to be very visible) - a month and a half later, two are still working. I don't know who does quality control on these things, but those people need to be fired.

If these things were durable, I would absolutely love the product. I love not using batteries and being able to simply slide the light off the bike. However, sixty percent of them have already failed, and I doubt the last two are very far behind. Stay away, far away.

1.0 out of 5 stars very poor quality, fails after 3 uses !!, August 4, 2011

I bought one front and one tail-light in February 2011. Used them 10 times for the front light, 3 for the rear red light. The red light broke on the third time : the cells can stay in the sun light as long as I want, they won't charge and light cuts off after a few minutes of use. I feel very disappointed. The front light seems to have stored up humidity inside it (guess what, it's raining sometimes here in France) after one shower, but are still working : for how long though ? I've been a careful user and the failing of the red light is indeed a defect of the light itself. Nobody must have revised the lights before shipping them on the marketplace, that's the only explanation.
