This 1998 version is outdated. Colorado still requires a PLACE exam, but the structure is very different and focuses on single subject proficiency--not what this book has to offer.

This book is absolutely useless. I didn't realize that this book was printed 13 years ago when I bought it. The PLACE test doesn't even follow this format anymore, there's is not even a written portion on the test, but the book mentions it again and again. The scoring has also changed.

I just took my PLACE test and passed with flying colors. After looking at this book I figured I didn't give myself enough time to study and decided not to study at all. I assumed I'd just have to bite the bullet and take it again, but the test was a breeze. If you've taken the ACT/SAT or any classes recently, you have nothing to worry about. You have 4 hours to complete 100 multiple choice questions. That's the whole test. I finished in about 90 mins and checked all my answers three times. I think most people finished in about 2 hours.

Bottom line:
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

If you are looking for a review for the general place test then this is the book for you. However, if you need only to take the test for your specific licensure then I would look else were for a study guide.

An absolutely essential resource for someone preparing to take the PLACE exams. Full-length sample exams with detailed explanations of the answers as well as very helpful testing tips. It is very thorough, comprehensive, and valuable. I highly recommend this book.

I needed to buy a review book for the Colorado PLACE exam. I decided to buy a used book since the delivery time frame would have worked. However, once the delivery time frame had passed, and I still did not receive the book, I had to run to Barnes & Noble and purchase a new review book. It's a good think I did not continue to wait for this book because it never showed up! I have never had this happen to me before and because of this experience, I will never purchase a book online again!! Especially from Amazon!
