Best Overall Bluetooth Stereo Headset, June 19, 2009
As a truck driver, I have very demanding standards for my cel phone equipment. I work in a high noise, high vibration/impact environment, and I am on the phone up to 6-8 hours a day. I have tested a plethora of headsets over the years, and I have settled on the Voyager as personally indispensable. I own two - one as my "workhorse," and a backup.
The headset is functionally simple to use and comfortable to wear. (I stand 6'3" with big ears.) It is unobtrusive with no necklaces or big behind the head/ears components. There is only a small wire that runs behind the neck.
The in-ear design is remarkably effective, and cancels out a good 50db or so of exterior noise. That is a HUGE plus for me. That feature makes it, in practical terms, VERY LOUD. This feature is hard to find in headsets for some reason, probably because headsets are often used while driving, and manufacturers get nervous about rendering their users deaf while they are operating heavy machinery. (There is a warning in the manual about using them while driving.)
Battery life is better than advertised for me - about 10-12 hours talk/music time, although that number has come down over time with repeated use/recharging. You can use the headset while it recharges, another HUGE plus.
Noise reduction is very good, although not military grade. It is good enough to be heard clearly while driving a semi. I almost never have to extend the boom mic.
Music quality is adequate, although not as good as a wired connection. This will vary from device to device, depending on the quality of the bluetooth stack in the transmitting device. When paired with my Sprint Mogul, some over modulation is noticeable. When paired with my laptop, sound is clear and crisp. Unless you are an audiophile, I doubt you will be disappointed. remote controls include play/pause, volume up/down, and skip forward/back.
Range is excellent. I can leave my phone in the truck and roam about 20-30 ft outside before i loose the connection.
Downside - I have had to replace two units in two years because the stereo connection stopped working. If you are too rough with the ear hook, the contacts will get bent and the stereo bud will stop working. Plantronics replaced both units for free.
I have had intermittent problems with the headset spontaneously dropping its connection, sometimes in a call. This is very annoying, but it is quickly fixed (turn the headset off/on,) and doesn't happen very often considering how much I use it.
Overall, one of the best headsets out there and the best bluetooth stereo headset for my money. You won't regret buying it.
I hope this has been helpful.

Good but not perfect (with my iPhone), June 28, 2009
I am using this headset the iPhone 3G after upgrading to OS 3.0. The main reason I bought the Voyager 855 is so I could listen to audio in addition to talking on the phone. I like the fact that you can detach the second earbud while biking or driving places. The sound quality is significantly better when using both earbuds but it's not horrible if you're only using just the main earbud, particuarly if you are not listening to music.
Pros:
* Works well enough with my iPhone; pairing was very easy.
* Phone calls are crisp and clear, significantly better then my BluAnt 79i.
* Sound quality is decent, especially with both earbuds in.
Cons:
* As long as I am sitting still or in the car, phone calls and audio are clear, but if I am walking or biking with my iPhone in my pocket, I frequently experience audio skipping.
* The ear clip doesn't hold the main earbud on my ear very well, even after trying different combinations of the earbuds and clips that come with the headset (although as long as I push the headset into my ear every so often it doesn't fall out as I walk around).
* I haven't been able to get the skip forward and skip backward buttons on the headset to work yet, but I haven't experimented with this extensively, yet.

Great Product - Bluetooth disconnects during calls, July 3, 2008
I love the product however my BT connection disconnects/reconnects during every phone call at least once. I mated the 855 to my LG Voyager phone. When I am not dropping the Bluetooth connection, I love the product. The sound is great and the stereo feature (by adding second ear bud) works well (although it could use more bass).
I have had the Voyager 855 for 3 weeks and from day one the BT dropped and reconnected during every phone call. I contacted Plantronics about my problem and they stated the problem was with the LG Voyager phone. I should try shutting the phone off and back on to try to alleviate the problem. This was not a solution. It did not correct my BT problem.
I decided to return my phone to Verizon Wireless and received a replacement. The problem still persisted with the BT dropping/reconnecting.
I contacted Plantronics again and told them about my problem. They decided to replace my Voyager 855 headset. I received it yesterday and I am still having the same BT problems. Now I am frustrated and not sure who or which product is to blame.
Bottom line... this is a great product and is very comfortable in my ear. I have not had a problem with battery life and the headset is my ear for 2 hours at a time with no discomfort. If I could just resolve this bluetooth issue I would raise the rating.
