Do not buy!, April 2, 2009
This review is from: PLAY! Live CD and bonus DVD (Audio CD)
This is not worth more than the cheap DVD-R and CD-R's they are copied on. That's right, they're not factory pressed, in fact I'd go as far as saying that they were probably done in some guy's house over the weekend. They've cut off half of the best track on the CD, The Chrono Trigger/Chross Medley, and don't even include that performance on the DVD, which has sub par visuals at best. Take it from me, someone who was already suckered into buying this: NOT WORTH IT!

Never recieved - fruitless attempts at contacting, August 23, 2009
This review is from: PLAY! Live CD and bonus DVD (Audio CD)
Order at your own risk. After paying for this CD/DVD set through the PLAY! store (before they started this listing on Amazon), I waited... and waited... and waited... and it has been 8 months now, and I'm still waiting. Despite multiple attempts at contacting the PLAY! folks, I have no information on the status of my order, no CD/DVD set, no refund, nor even one single acknowledgment that my concerns were heard.
Many of the people who DID manage to receive the set couldn't help but comment on the shoddy, home-burned, sloppily-edited nature of the package.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!

Good music, DVD okay., August 29, 2009
This review is from: PLAY! Live CD and bonus DVD (Audio CD)
Here it is, the Play Symphony CD and bonus DVD. They come in a regular CD jewel case, so it'll fit right in your CD collection.
The music is very good, with interesting choices (who else would have remembered these old C64 themes?), excellent arrangements, and top notch recording. It's been in my computer, playing, since I received it two weeks ago. I won't go over all the tracks, suffice to say they are all excellent and you should enjoy them, even if you're unfamiliar with the game or video games in general.
The DVD is good, but is only a 20 minutes subset of the whole concert. I know it is not representative of an actual Play! Symphony concert, and a concert video recording is always underwhelming compared to the experience of being there, but nevertheless I would have liked to have the whole concert on DVD, as it's the next best thing for those of us who can't go to the actual concerts (given the limited number they do). Ah, well, these 20 minutes are already good to have.
The booklet is okay, giving some information on the games and the composers behind them. All in all, a good product, my only complaint is that there should be more of it.
