Just got volume two (after loving volume one) and its even better than the first! The Grateful Dead and Deep Purple really take you back to that "moment in time". I also particularly like that they have stuff from "[...] Penthouse"-- Tony Bennett, Joe Williams, and Count Basie are outstanding!
I know that there are tons of episodes out there, so please keep 'em coming, they're terriffic!

I lay no claim to "a first-rate intelligence," but I do subscribe to this F. Scott Fitzgerald dictum about a functioning mind. And so I can call myself a feminist and still think Playboy After Dark is a delicious pop culture artifact.

This three-disc set (Volume Two) begins in the lounge-era cool of the very early sixties and winds up in "groovy" territory at the end of the decade. Highlights (for me): Disc 1 = Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie performing with Joe Williams and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, Pete Seeger leading a living room sing-along, close-up magic tricks, Cal Tjader; Disc 2 = Johnny Mathis, The Modern Jazz Quartet, George Carlin, Don Adams, Brenton Wood ("Just give me some kind of sign, girl..."), and the hair-do on the bass player in the group Hef introduces as "The" Deep Purple; Disc 3 = fewer delights and some actual irritations, though Sid Caesar gives one of his "multilingual" performances, and Jerry Garcia wears a gigantic poncho that Deadheads may appreciate in any glimpses that aren't obscured by some ill-considered "psychedelic" camera effects.

Included on Disc 1 is a worshipful short documentary about Hefner, circa 1963, showing us that one of the secrets of his success is an ability to look into the camera with a straight face and declare himself "a genius."

I ordered "Playboy After Dark", a television show from the sixties. Right after that I started receiving pornographic
advertisements in the mail. It appeared someone sold my address to a porn distributor. I called the company to
stop the junk mail and the operator told me they had a affiliation with Amazon. As for the DVD I enjoyed seeing
all the old actors and musicians from he sixties. But I was not happy about having my home address sold to a
pornographic company.

My husband was in some of these so I had to give it to him to watch. It was very entertaining and I do remember watching these when they came out.

Having seen the Grateful Dead & Deep Purple footage on bootlegs this should really be a treat. This is the "Mark 1" lineup of Deep Purple (pre-"Smoke on the Water")and I believe they do one instrumental and possibly "Hush". Ritchie Blackmore is still using his red Gibson ES-335 guitar, he hadn't switched to the Strat just yet. The Dead are in full regalia here doing an electric "St. Stephen" & acoustic "Mountans of the Moon", Garcia even raps with Hef. Can't wait to see this, the music, not just the girls! Further volumes please, Hef! I know there's a vintage Byrds performance of "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere/This Wheel's on Fire" from a 1967-68 show somewhere in your archives.

This is as raw as it gets.In this volume it gets even better.

I just viewed this, the people dancing and the unconventional camera work along with the charming vintage feel. It's a keeper.
