Beautiful and realistic toy that sparks the imagination, but has flaws,

We bought the airline terminal, airport tower, and both jets for our twin 4-year-old boys' birthday. They LOVE the set. The airline terminal is beautiful and very realistic, from it's turning luggage conveyor belt, to the security screening area, pay telephone, computer screens, and security lights.Take note that the airport takes some time to put together. It's not hard, but I HIGHLY recommend putting it together BEFORE your child sees it. I spent about 2 hours assembling it. I recommend also keeping the extra little screws and tool they provide as I find myself using it every now and then to put some of the pieces back together. While our boys absolutely love playing with the set, as other customers have noted with these products, the pieces do come off a little too easily. Our boys enjoy deconstructing things, so I frequently find parts of the airport here and there and have to pop them back on, otherwise they might get lost forever. Some parts I don't mind being moved around; however, other pieces like the roof itself should have been designed as one large unit instead of 3 take-apart pieces, same goes with the corridor. This is why I gave the airport 4 stars instead of 5. PS...All of Playmobil's products we bought direct from the manufacturer. It's generally cheaper on their website.

My parents gave this to our two boys at least two years ago and the boys (who are now 5 and 8) still love playing with it. The five-year-old especially enjoys it. We love how detailed it is. They boys (and their friends) sometimes will take it apart, but I've found it easy enough to put back together. It's like a puzzle. We also have the control tower and the airplane. Now I'm looking for more related toys to add to their set.

This toy will not stay together. We spend more time tracking down the loose parts and putting the toy back together than our daughter spends playing with it. Very, very frustrating, and very unexpected from Playmobil.

Grandma purchased the plane and airport for my 5 year old girl's birthday. Both her and her 2 1/2 year old brother play with it non stop. They really love it. It is a big hit.

It took us 2 hours to put this toy together. Lots of small pieces. But it's well made, so you are not going to have any problems with it.

I purchased this toy for a rehearsal for my children for an upcoming trip. I was dismayed to find that it only had a few people, instead of the throngs you usually find. The was no train to move you 500 feet from terminal to terminal, no annoying electric carts shuttling elderly, obese, and lazy people while honking at people in wheelchairs and using canes to get around. There was no food court with vaguely-recognizable restaurants charging twice their normal menu prices, or "gift shops" selling all manner of assorted crap no one ever buys. I was also looking for the people who were wandering around having nicotine fits, unattended children acting like the gates were play areas, electronic check in kiosks with "out of order" signs, counter staff in their break room, a baggage handling area where I could show the apes with axes and sledge hammers moving the luggage around. I did find it very realistic in that people could enter the terminal from any doorway, just avoiding the security checkpoint all together. Finally, I placed mu sons' hot wheels garage next to the terminal and charged him $30 an hour to park. I bought this along with the playskool security checkpoint. |
