Despite your religious beliefs, this is a really cute set. The figures are very colorful and adaptable with other plymobil sets. I was thrilled to find a Nativity set that my boys could actually play with. They acutally end up with this set mixed in with their other sets. The kings they use with their castle sets. They love the colorful robes and the crowns.
I am a bit disappointed with the thin card stock backdrop. At least it could have been mounted on a piece of plastic. Unlike other Playmobil sets, this backdrop just will not hold up to excessive play. Hence the 4 stars.
All in all, this worked out to be a fabulous year round addition to the boy's collection, in fact, every Christmas we have to reassemble this set to use as originally intended.
Your children will love this set. As with any Playmobil set, the mix and match, item swap potential encourages wonderful imaginative play.
YOu can never go wrong with Playmobil.

I have just started buying Playmobil items for my family and I bought this for my kids to tinker around with. Very high quality (as with any Playmobil item) and the figures are very detailed. Great for old and young alike. There are a lot of little pieces that could get lost, however you can call Playmobil and they will replace lost or broken pieces. Great for kids to learn what Christmas is all about.

I work at a religious school, and I bought this display for my office. I have received tons of compliments from children and adults alike. The figures are so cute! It was fairly easy to put together for two 28-year-olds. I'm not sure how great a little kid would do; decorating the camel is pretty detailed. Like most Playmobil items, it is well crafted, and I know I will have this for some time to come. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique nativity scene for his or her family, home, office or classroom.

This is the first any only nativity set I have ever seen and my child loves it. The detailing is amazing there are gifts from the wise men and so much more. My only complaint, like somone else, is that the structure was unfortunately tossed to the side or ruined. This is the only playmobil set I have seen that came with a major piece being made of cardboard. We have Santa's house/toyshop as well and the gift boxes are made of thin cardboard but that made sense. I really wish playmobil would up the price a couple dollars and make the structure plastic. Otherwise a perfect set once again. We love our playmobil! I have considered purchasing the playmobil horse shed item #7917 to use for the nativity structure. I think it is the closet option and it is plastic!

As a child, I was often scolded for removing baby Jesus from his cozy manger and losing him amongst my Fisher Price people. Still it was one of my favorite Christmas pasttimes, and is part of that tapestry of fond Christmas memories.
My most important criteria for a nativity is that it be something the kids can enjoy too. This set is actually attractive, and very detailed, in the typical Playmobil style. We display it, as well as making it accessible to our eldest as a plaything. We put it away with the Christmas decorations each year so it will be a special, novel treat come Christmas season. How wonderful to have an entire set, complete with myriad little pieces (which I find thrilling, despite the rather annoying clean-up/reassembly), all which can be pulled apart and loved and made into dramatic characters, and ultimately be a part of Christmas that really belongs to the children. I even appreciate the little book and its non-denominational introduction to the Christmas story.
Like other reviewers, I do wish the backdrop were made of something sturdier. This year I may try to find a way to reinforce the cardboard. I would have been willing to pay double just to have a more durable backdrop, as we plan to make this part of our family Christmas each year.
Also, for those concerned with country of origin, this set is made in Malta, not made in China.

I purchased this toy for use in my PreK class at a Catholic school. The 21 kids in my class love playing with it so much that we have to assign a schedule to play with it. The only complaint is that EVERY LITTLE piece can be removed (hair, beard, feather on the Magi's turban) and we continue to find pieces long after Christmas. However, that only adds to their creativity and imaginative play. I love to hang out and listen to the kids retell the Christmas story!

This toy is perfect for my 4-year old daughter, who, prior to owning this toy, would often play with Grandma's religious figures (not toys). Now, with this terrific nativity set, she can play with Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, et al., without running the risk of breaking them, plus she is learning about the true reason for celebrating Christmas. It is both educational and religious, but more importantly, she LOVES playing with it.

The product was a little too flimsy for a child of 3-4. Easily broken and difficult for them to play with. Not the type I was anticipating.

Baptism gift
I got this as a baptism gift and it was very well-received. It'll be a few years before anyone plays with it, but that's true of most gifts you can give a newborn!
