REVIEWS
“One amazing book, one extraordinary ending. Not just thorough, but so powerfully moving that I cry each time I read it. Yes, I have read the ending more than a few times.”

“Plead Forgiveness is much more than a romance between the hero and heroine, which is breath taking to say the least, but it also includes such a deep family dynamic that is rarely added to romance novels. It was brilliant of the author to include this heart wrenching, but very beautiful aspect to her book.” GOODREADS

1.0 out of 5 stars Mary Sue Killed this Book! May 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book had an interesting, but not unique, premise. In some ways, the treatment of the heroine reminded me of Cinderella, even the name "Ella". However, reading this as a fairy tale did not help in the end.

As a reader, I can suspend disbelief with the best of them, but the way Ella was written was completely unrealistic. She was a total Mary Sue. She was the most beautiful, the most courageous, most talented, most kind, most skilled woman that anyone in the book had ever met. She was the most skilled healer in all of England or Scotland. She knew advanced medical techniques that no one else had heard of. She was able to offer sage advice and herbal remedies for conception, contraception and birth and prevention of infection. I thought she was Joseph Lister at one point!

She could ride and train horses better than any man. She was more skilled with bow and arrow than any warrior. Although she was described as being like a 10 year old boy in size and stature, she was strong enough to drag a full sized, Highland warrior through a tunnel after he'd been rendered unconscious. She could endure brutal whipping and subsequent cauterization of those lashes with barely a whimper of pain. She was able to captivate and enchant everyone around her. She was universally loved by all men, women, children and animals, except the villains of course. The *only* thing she couldn't do better than anyone else was cook, yet even her failed attempts were presented as hilarious and adorable. I kept reading to see if she'd actually sprout wings and fly!

Beyond this huge issue, there were numerous editing mistakes that pulled me out of the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bad editing kept this from being a 5 star review. September 13, 2012
By BCP
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a great smooth flowing story this was. There was action from the get go...not slow paced or bogged down at all.

The author did an excellent job in describing the characters. They were all life-like and easy to imagine.
Gavin and Ella were two of the best matched H/h I have ever read about.

Loved this story and had decided to ignore the first few editing errors. Then they became too numerous, imo.
There was wrong tense of words used lots of times as well as wrong words used...excepted instead of accepted, irrupted in place of erupted and atlas instead of alas are a few that come to mind. Extra words added to sentences and then words would be missing.

Names were spelled differently at times...Alec/Alex, Rachael/Rachel, Isabel/Isobel and Frazer/Fraser.
Because this was such a good book and held my attention I only deducted 1 star for the not so good editing done. A very enjoyable read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, Needs Work November 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In general, this was a pretty good read, but...

Good: Main and supporting characters, some truly evil bad guys, loyal horses and wolf dog, Scottish Highlands, and love of family.

Not so good: Holes in the story. Main example (ALMOST A SPOILER): two characters were banished, under pain of death if they returned, yet they were back in their cottage and apparently entered the castle from which they were banned, and weren't noticed?

Bad: Proofreading was poor and editing was just as bad, with incomplete sentences, wrong tense, using verbs as adjectives or nouns, homonym and near homonym errors, not enough commas, semi-colons, colons or dashes, too much repetition of certain concepts or themes, and the characters generally spoke as though they were giving speeches, rather than simply speaking to each other. A good editor would tighten up the book and make a good story even better.

So bad it's funny: Philip--an Englishman--speaking with a Scots accent, abdominal for abominable, "was disgusted by forethought," "her only hoped," titled for tilted, and so many other places where turning off the auto-complete would have helped. Several words were used in ways that made it clear the author did not actually know those words' meanings.

It's a shame this book is so messy, for it has very good bones. A previous commenter said the book had been corrected and updated; if so, it desperately needs it again.

I will read this author's other books, because the storytelling talent is there. But please, please get a good proofreader and editor before uploading the next book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Story Line- Needs Editing March 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Don't bother publishing something if you haven't edited your work. It was sloppy and frustrating to read which is sad because it wasn't a bad story line. It was a bad first impression and I am not interested in reading any more of her work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs editing... December 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Desperately. And not the kind a professional editor needs to provide. This book needs the basics like someone circling misused words. Some serious errors that could probably be fixed...but are jarring as they stand. One anachronistic idiom at least. Plot was actually good though, I think with some help, this could be good. Lots of conversation telling us about events got a bit boring. Overall, the author should not have released this book without basic editing. Have someone else read your work before publishing...doesn't need a pro, just someone who speaks English...

More About the Author

Historical romance author, Aury Dobsyn, may be new to the publishing world, but is already achieving great success with debut novels.

Plead Forgiveness: Betrayed Once
Plead Forgiveness: Betrayed Twice

My main objective is to write romance books that are highly imaginative and emotional intense. My writing style is fast pace, providing more action and dialogue than page after page of description. To clarify, I add description (setting/character thoughts) in limited measures and sporadically.

I put great importance on how the relationship between the hero and heroine evolve, physically and emotionally. Another key component is showing how their preconceived ideas about love and marriage change. I feel that the relationship between the main characters and their family and friends is equally important.

I have many characters in Plead Forgiveness, and each has an essential role in the story. The sub characters and their relationship with main character, as well as the sub plot, help readers to see the hero and heroine in a different light. The dramatic and humorous interplay between main and sub characters enhance the overall story and gives readers a connection to more than just hero and heroine.

My mother is the one who introduced me historical romance with authors like Jude Deveraux, Julie Garwood, and Judith McNaught. She told me Jude Deveraux actually went to Scotland and England (early 80's) to do research for the Velvet Series. After reading this series, I realized the importance of historical accuracy. Like Jude Deveraux, I tried to include some of the lesser-known facts about medieval life. I researched everything, from horse training, monks, clothes, religion, weapons, warfare, occupations, castles, clans, names, maps, etc) I could not believe the minuscule details I googled to ensure the historical accuracy of this romance book. In the end, it was worth it.

My favorite part of Plead Forgiveness is the ending, which is long and very emotional. It shows the importance of FAMILY, LOVE, and LOYALTY.

Plead Forgiveness (Betrayed Once & Betrayed Twice) is also available on Amazon.

Amazon Review
"I absolute loved the subplots, which greatly added to the story line and character description."
"All the characters were life-like and easy to imagine. Gavin and Ella were two of the best matched H/h I have ever read in a romance novel."

"The author did an excellent job "gradually" describing all the characters. I have read many books where the charter description is so lengthy that it slows the book down. I much prefer learning about a character as get further into the book, rather than for multiple pages when they are introduced in the story. I think this is a main factor as to why the book flowed so smoothly and was not bogged down. There was action from beginning to end, along with interweaving character description." Good Reads

Good Reads
"I found this book well-researched and historically factual, which is a must if I'm going to write a review. Actually, I was quite impressed with the author's knowledge of this time period, more specifically the smaller details such as occupations, horse training, and highland clans."

Good Reads
"But what really makes this such an exceptional book is the ending. I hate abrupt endings, and this was the complete opposite. Not just thorough, but so powerfully moving that I cry each time I read it. Yes, I have read the ending more than a few times."
