Great fun, build your own fleet!
Easy to snap together, many options: you can build the ship from the original pilot, the 2nd pilot, or the regular production series Enterprise. Also, with different labels provided you can build not only the Enterprise but also the Defiant, the Constellation, and the Exeter (all other ships seen on the TV show). You can even build the "Mirror Universe" I.S.S. Enterprise...

This model is Junk!
The pieces break as you take them off the tree. Weather you use a hobby knife or not. Some of the parts are down right microscopic too. You really need jewelers tools to put this together, and even when you get them in place, they break as you push them in.
The plastic is of poor quality, particularly the transparent pieces...

You can even build the "Mirror Universe" I.S.S. Enterprise if you want to!
Even more fun: with a small Xacto knife, you can cut up the letters and numbers and build other ships from the fleet. On our shelf at home we have the Enterprise, the Defiant, the Constellation, the Exeter, the Lexington, the Kongo, and the Farragut. We're trying to decide which one to make next!

Excellent Kit, December 12, 2009

Anyone who's been watching TV in the last 30 years knows this ship. And anyone who's spent any time building models is aware of Polar Lights' reputation. This is hands down one of their finest kits, and is backed up by the hundreds, if not thousands, of comments by fellow modelers testifying to that fact. The kit goes together easily, being a snap kit, and if you are and advanced modeler, you can forego the snaps and glue it, which is what I have done. The only challenging part I would say is attaching the engines to their struts, which can be tricky. It may need a bit of sanding and putty if you're a perfectionist, but altogether it goes together well. The kit comes with three build options for pilot episode or production versions, and the decals allow for building different ships of the class. I did find the decals a bit thick though. There is also a lot of aftermarket support for this kit, whether it be lighting kits for the engines, a shuttle bay detail set, or even resin "kitbashes" to allow you to build different style ships in the Star Trek universe. This kit is a repop of the original Polar Lights kit which had been out for some years, and has always been highly spoken of by other modelers in various forums. It's perfectly buildable by a beginner, and adapts itself well to advanced modelers as well. Price is reasonable also, considering what all you get.

This kit is rated for ages 10 and up. Well I'm 43 and I've been making models all my life, and I really can't see how they expect a 10 year old to manage this exercise in micro surgery, unless you happen to have an electron microscope handy.
I got really frustrated with this and returned it along with another kit of the same product line.
I'm sooooo tired of buying junk!
If your a hobbyist or just looking for something to do with your kid, avoid this one! It's crap!
