Excellent PMP study resource,
This review is from: PMP: Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide (Paperback)
The PMBOK guide is organized by knowledge areas, and this text presents the material by process groups. Looking at the project management processes from both perspectives was very helpful. The practice exam questions on the CD are close to what I saw on the actual exam, which I passed on my initial try. I also downloaded the audio recaps of each chapter to my iPod so I could listen while commuting. A couple of minor errors/typos, but overall I would recommend this book.

If you are working toward becoming a program manager, or a current program manager wanting to pursue certification, this book is excellent. It is well written and has exam preparation software so you can practice testing prior to taking your certification exam. The only shortcoming, which is very minor, is that the entire book is published black and white, which is somewhat boring and not as useful for charts and graphs. I assume that is a cost reduction for publishing and kept the price down.

If you have an insomnia problem and don't have prescription drug insurance this is a cheap medication. This book will put you to sleep easily :-)
If you like verbose books that just expand on PMBOK with no practical examples, no pictures and do not aid your understanding of the subject , this book is for you! In short, this is the worst written book on PMP. PMBOK is easier than this book and makes more sense. Do your self a favor and get Head First or Andy Crowe or Rita Mulcahy or Paul Sanghera.

Passed Exam on Saturday using Kim's study guide as a single source. Great real world scenarios that help with understanding the material. PC Flashcards were very helpful along with the audio chapter reviews.

I passed the PMP test on the first go with this study guide. I really found the audio recaps of the chapters very helpful. I put them on CD and listened to them on my commute. I also liked the process group organization. There were only 4 questions on my PMP test that were not covered at all by this book...so 98% coverage is pretty good.
This book does not hold your hand very much however. If you are looking for more than just an overview of subjects line Earned Value and Critical Path Method, then you may want to get another study guide. I had exposure to these subjects before, so this book was just the review I needed. But someone who is seeing them for the first time may want a deeper treatment. Overall, this book was a great "one stop shop" for my exam prep.

Best review I used...,

I passed the PMP on the first try using this book and Rita Mulcahy's review. This guide has a great CD of exam questions that I reviewed over and over. Since I believe at least 60-75% of PMP (and most professional certification) exam questions are repeats for each exam, I found that reviewing the CD questions helped me gain confidence during reviews and taking the exam when I saw many of the same questions. The book is great as well, presenting the material in a different format than the other guides I used. This one is worth the money!
