Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Using advanced gas-sensor technology, the Precision Navigation BT3500 digital personal alcohol detector can be used to measure the concentration of alcohol in your breath. Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is displayed in easy-to-read numbers in increments of .01 percent, ranging from .00 to .19 percent BAC. The unit beeps when the meter is ready to use and after a breath sample is registered, and features backlighting so it can be seen in dim illumination. This detector also gives an error warning when it fails to get a complete sample. The BT3500 is compact and light, not much larger than a disposable lighter.

Important note: The manufacturer warns users that the product should be used only to give an indication of the possible presence of alcohol in the blood. Do not rely on it to determine intoxication or whether it is safe to drive a vehicle or operate equipment. Readings do not constitute evidence of sobriety or intoxication in a legal case involving alcohol and driving.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun as a party toy that can be used seiously..., December 6, 2000

We bought one of these a while back and thought we could use it as a fun "game" We thought this way people could for fun see if they were drunk. If they were it was on a readout right in front of them which made them getting a ride home a lot easier than trying to convince some they are drunk and that they should not drive.

It is a bit tricky sometimes to get a good readout which is the only reason why we don't rate this five stars BUT it gives you a message that an error has occured and to try again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Have fun and be SAFE, April 24, 2001

I have seen products of this type in our local club store. But I wanted to be able to carry it in my pocket. That particular one was almost the size of my home phone, this one fits into my pants pocket! It's about the size of a bic lighter!

I took it out the other night at a cocktail party and everybody there had to try it. I am sure that Amazon was inundated with orders for it from the folks at that party alone. One drawback is that you have to let the alcohol in your mouth dissipate to give a true reading. It requires that you wait a bit to use it after your last drink. But the peace of mind that comes from having it is well worth it...
