5.0 out of 5 stars PNY 8gb flash drive
I have several flash drives from other manufacturers and this one is the fastest. I appreciate the speed. I would buy a PNY product again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Fragile
Despite my care in handling this drive, it snapped on me within a month of ownership. It appears as if the actual hardware inside the clear plastic casing broke loose, rendering the device unusable. I thought it was just my bad luck until I saw from these reviews that others have had similar experiences with this product's flimsyness.

First USB flash Drive I've ever used. Does exactly what it states. easy transition from PC to PC(USB driver load/recoqnition time depends on the PC) File speed seems to be on par with any other memory cards I've used in the past(SD, CF, Micro Drive) comes with a detachable lanyard so that you can wear it around your neck, which is a big plus.

i bought this thing b/c the guy at the store said his buddy ran it through the washer and it still worked. at the time, it sounded ridiculous, but i bought it anyways. since then, i have forgotten and left it in my shorts about a dozen times through both washer AND dryer. never a hitch. it may not be fast, it may not be cool, but if you want the data on it to stay around, the thing is solid.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Solid Thunb Drive, June 30, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
No problems here. The drive works everytime. I store E-Bay graphics on it. I have yet to have any of the PNY drives fail me. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish it was a bit thinner. It's just a hair to wide so that you can't plud 2 in together if you have your usb drive stacked on top of ona another.

The drive contained years of work and if I hadn't backed up the files regularly on my other computers, I would have been utterly devastated. I actually purchased this product AS a means of backing up my original works.

I was generous in giving 3 stars simply because UNTIL it suddenly broke, and IF it continued to function as intended, it's actually a pretty decent little device. I would recommend storing it in a box lined with cotton if you want it to last longer than a month though.

If you decide to buy this product, DO NOT primarily depend on it. ALWAYS back up whatever information is on it. I personally would not purchase this product again, it's just too fragile and I don't trust it.

4.0 out of 5 stars great product, December 23, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great product, I should have bought the 16 gig one nevertheless. The only problem with it is when you use it for readyboast. Once your format it (3.99 gb by the way) it is impossible to stop it. Everytime you plug the stick into your computer it immediately starts readyboast. Since it uses 4 gigs for readyboast I really only have a 4 gig thumbdrive. So what I will do is delete readyboast whenever I have to transfer files that are larger than 4 gigs. But you can only do this when you plug the stick into another computer, on the one that it is formatted for it will tell you that readyboast is in use so you cannot stop it or delete it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working, February 23, 2006
I've been using this flash drive for about 6 months. It worked just fine going between Macs and PC's. I only used it for backing up, so it wasn't on a day to day basis. Then the other day it just stopped working. It would show up on the computers but you couldn't even access it to reformat it. I took it to get looked at and I was told it's dead and there's no way to retrieve my information. It hangs up in my office, I don't even carry it around in a bag or anything so it didn't get banged up or left out in the cold. It just died! When I replace it I will get a different brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Flash Drive, November 5, 2006

This is a very good Flash Drive. I have two flash drives by this company, and find they to be good quality. They work with Mac and PC (and go between both well).

I have had one for over a year, and have experienced no problems with it, and recently bought a second. It comes with a nice lanyard, so you can wear it around your neck and keep track of it.

This product comes in different colors, which in itself is nice. My only complaint is that when you order it, there is no way to choose which color you get. For example, I have received one that is green and one that is purple.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not bad, but..., March 28, 2006

It's pretty decent, but I've started carrying more copies of important documents around for backup. Not music, but actually important stuff that I would be in trouble to lose.

PNY's is decent, but I recently got a Corsair flash drive. It is about 10x faster. The Corsair is much better. And I don't work for Corsair and don't have stock in them. But if you plug a Corsair in, you almost immediately get a response and the transfer speed is incredible.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE UNLESS YOU LOVE THROWING MONEY AWAY, May 9, 2006
By
N. T. Jones (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I teach at a technology school and I see lots of Flash memory drives come and go.

EVERY SINGLE PNY DRIVE I'VE EVER SEEN HAS COME APART WITHIN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. Sometimes it's two weeks. Sometimes a month. It depends on how often it's used. But the bottom line is that the units are poorly built and they WILL break internally sooner or later.

What always happens is that the internal housing breaks and the piece that fits into the computer slips into the case so you can't plug it into the computer anymore.

KEEP SHOPPING. FIND SOMETHING THAT IS NOT GOING TO BREAK WITHIN A FEW WEEKS.
