Fast 64-Bit Floating Point Precision
Industry's fastest double precision floating point performance enabling accurate results on mission-critical applications, including computer-aided-design, finite element analysis to computational fluid dynamics.
NVIDIA GigaThread™ Engine
Provides up to 10x faster context switching compared to previous generation architectures, concurrent kernel execution, and improved thread block scheduling.
Dual Copy Engines
Enables the highest rates of parallel data processing and concurrent throughput between the GPU and host, accelerating techniques such as ray tracing, color grading and physical simulation.
Full-Scene Antialiasing (FSAA)
Up to 64X FSAA dramatically reduces visual aliasing artifacts or “jaggies”, resulting in unparalleled image quality and highly realistic scenes.
GPU Tessellation with Shader Model 5.0
Quadro Tessellation Engines automatically generate finely detailed geometry, for cinematic quality environments and scenes, without sacrificing performance.
16K Texture and Render Processing
The ability to texture from and render to 16K x 16K surfaces. Beneficial for applications that demand the highest resolution and quality image processing.
High-Quality Display Connectors
Attaches to ultra-high-resolution digital panels producing phenomenal photorealistic image quality from a range of display connectors. The Quadro 4000 GPU simultaneously supports two active display channels including DVI-DL and DisplayPort at resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 at 60Hz. The included DVI to VGA adapter supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 85Hz. HDMI 1.3a compliant displays can be driven with a 3rd party adapter (must be purchased separately) at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz.
NVIDIA High Precision High Dynamic Range (HDR) Technology
Sets new standards for image clarity and quality through floating point capabilities in shading, filtering, texturing, and blending. Enables unprecedented rendered image quality for visual effects processing.

This was a huuuuuuge upgrade from my XFX 5770, a bigger jump than expected. I can work with several million polygons without lagging up. I pushed this card farther, and hit the 15 million polygon mark with 3DS Max (using Max-specific drivers) and things were still easily editable, attaining 300+ fps. Loading the same model into Mudbox bore the same results, I could still sculpt and paint it with little lag.
The work I do is mostly for game development, and I use the Unreal Engine 3 editor as much as I use 3D modeling apps, so I was a bit worried that this card would detract a bit from my productivity there (since it's pretty much the same as running any other DirectX game). But like I said performance is still great, no problems so far.
I didn't get it for gaming, but was curious about its performance just the same. It seems just a little less powerful than my 5770, but given that it's not it's primary purpose, I think it's commendable.
It's also not especially loud, I can't hear it above my four other Cooler Master sickleflow fans, which are made a bit louder by the filters I have on them.
This thing does run HOT. It is almost too hot to touch. I haven't verified the actual temps on mine yet. I don't think there's anything wrong with it as it seems to be performing to expectations without any issues, it's just a hot card. I may end up manually adjusting the fan speed.

this cards have dedicated software to increase performance in programs such as Photoshop, After Effects, Premier (especially this one with mercury renderer), 3d max and more.
i have already tested this gpu on every and each of the software listed above plus Zbrush.
this can still get fps and good game performance... its the best for the value, and definitely its better then the previous quadro series.
This is superior to Quadro fx 3800. and competes closely with the Quadro FX 4800. wich in this case was replaced with the quadro vcq 5000 wich is a monster too.
recomend it for profesional or high end amateur use. probably was the best purchase ive made setting my new computer.
Majority of rendering engines are GPU base now, so you might not need this mid range Quadro if you don't deal with modeling much. You still need a quadro card for setting up the scene. Nowadays the common setup for rendering pro is, get a entry level quadro fermi card for display and modeling; and get one or two Geforce GTX card for rendering. GeForce GTX are in PCI slots but not connected to any monitors. And only install Quadro driver for display. Rendering engines will seek out all available GPU on your machine.
Bottom line, if you're a 3D pro who do a lot of modeling then this card will save you time and headache = money. If you're setting up a mini render farm, then Geforce GTX is more cost efficient. If you're like me who do a bit of everything, modeling, rendering, texturing and gaming (this card does pretty well on HD games), then this card is perfect for you. It does get pretty hot, make sure your machine have a good air flow. I have two 80mm fans (with fan speed control) to keep it cool.
The card worked brilliantly for the first couple of months. I use a variety of graphic-intense utilities like Maya, Blender, and GIMP on a regular basis. This card chewed through very dense 3D geometry models with ease. For sure, this card runs at a higher average temperature than most, but that's what the low-profile, high-performance design will get you, so no complaints there.
After a couple of months the card would shutdown (screen goes black & system locks up) after just a few minutes of use. I discovered that the fan just wasn't running at all - so the card idled itself up to >100 deg C and shutdown. PNY quickly accepted my RMA request and sent me a new card. (Kudos to their fast response). However, the replacement card had the same issue! (Anti-kudos for a faulty replacement). The fan on this card will sporadically work, but most often exhibits the same fan issue as the first, leaving me unable to do my work. I am now on my 2nd RMA with this card.
To PNY's credit, their support has been relatively easy to deal with - quickly granting RMAs and providing other helpful diagnostics along the way. However, I am overall displeased with the reliability of their product. Like I said, I bought this card expecting professional performance and reliability. Still waiting for the second half.
