5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding, July 9, 2009

This review is from: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 by PNY 768MB GDDR3 DDR3 PCI Express Gen 2 x16 DVI-I DL and Dual DisplayPort OpenGL, Direct X, CUDA, and OpenCL Profesional Graphics Board, VCQFX1800-PCIE-PB (Personal Computers)
this is a huge improvement over my previous video card, i also have the ati radeon hd2600 pro, which is a gaming card. cannot compare rendering in after effects cs4 with the ati compared with the fx1800. ati took me 45 mins to render on a project, did the exact project with the fx1800 and it took 28 seconds to render, also shipping was great, always got good shipping from amazon, well sometimes seems to take a lil longer than the 4 or 5 days standard shipping, but always arrive in good condition.

This card replaced an original 3 1/2 year old card that failed. The identical replacement Quadro FX 3500 card from Dell was about $800 and had 250 MB memory. The FX 1800 card was $374 and had 750MB memory with superior performance. Installing drivers was easy and so far the card performs flawlessly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good purchase, June 12, 2010

I bought this card for the display port. I use it to work with Photoshop, Illustrator, to post process photos & a little bit web design.
I'm happy with my choice. Don't expect it to be a gamers card (only supports DirectX 10 etc.) but for working with graphics it's ideal.
Good thing: You just plug it in and it just works, no extra cooling required, no problems with drivers (Windows 7), etc.
I've been using it for a month now, and never had any slightest compatibility/reliability issues as I had previously with some ATI drivers (screen flickering occassionally etc.)
Ths only thing is that when you click something that needs elevated permissions in Windows 7, this dimmed screen appears with a dialog box. The first time it happens after computer boot, it takes around 2-3 seconds for the dialog box to appear, but then it's instant every time. It doesn't happen to me on any other Windows 7 I use (I use 5 Windows 7 machines total on a daily basis). May be graphics card, drivers or something specific in the system itself. A very small thing, not really annoying and I'm sure they'll eventually fix it. (But I take 1 star for it anyway, because nothing's perfect ;))
