This review is from: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 by PNY 768MB GDDR3 DDR3 PCI Express Gen 2 x16 DVI-I DL and Dual DisplayPort OpenGL, Direct X, CUDA, and OpenCL Profesional Graphics Board, VCQFX1800-PCIE-PB (Personal Computers)
this is a huge improvement over my previous video card, i also have the ati radeon hd2600 pro, which is a gaming card. cannot compare rendering in after effects cs4 with the ati compared with the fx1800. ati took me 45 mins to render on a project, did the exact project with the fx1800 and it took 28 seconds to render, also shipping was great, always got good shipping from amazon, well sometimes seems to take a lil longer than the 4 or 5 days standard shipping, but always arrive in good condition.

This card replaced an original 3 1/2 year old card that failed. The identical replacement Quadro FX 3500 card from Dell was about $800 and had 250 MB memory. The FX 1800 card was $374 and had 750MB memory with superior performance. Installing drivers was easy and so far the card performs flawlessly.

I bought this card for the display port. I use it to work with Photoshop, Illustrator, to post process photos & a little bit web design.
I'm happy with my choice. Don't expect it to be a gamers card (only supports DirectX 10 etc.) but for working with graphics it's ideal. Good thing: You just plug it in and it just works, no extra cooling required, no problems with drivers (Windows 7), etc. I've been using it for a month now, and never had any slightest compatibility/reliability issues as I had previously with some ATI drivers (screen flickering occassionally etc.) Ths only thing is that when you click something that needs elevated permissions in Windows 7, this dimmed screen appears with a dialog box. The first time it happens after computer boot, it takes around 2-3 seconds for the dialog box to appear, but then it's instant every time. It doesn't happen to me on any other Windows 7 I use (I use 5 Windows 7 machines total on a daily basis). May be graphics card, drivers or something specific in the system itself. A very small thing, not really annoying and I'm sure they'll eventually fix it. (But I take 1 star for it anyway, because nothing's perfect ;))

I just built my 1st workstation pc. This GPU worked right out of the box. Even for Dual Monitor setup(I had read on the nVidia forums people were having issues with dual monitors). I haven't really be able to push and test it's capabilities. So far, handles large complex Sketchup files with shadows on, much better then my old pc. Not sure if it's because of the my new RAM or core i7. I haven't tried to render with it yet.
Surprisingly, Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit only gives it a (6.7 out of 7.9) Windows Experience Index rating. This is fine, but for the price (it was the most expensive part in my build) I would expect it to be higher. But maybe not. I'll be honest, I don't know if the WEI really means anything, so I would defer to others who would know more. My unit came with manual and CD. But all of this can be found on the web. Go to nVidia's website for downloads and support.

My wife is a web designer and works extensively in Adobe CS4 web (now using CS5). We purchased a Dell Studio XPS desktop with the Intel Core I7 processor, but most of the XPS machines are gaming-oriented. The original video card was an ATI Radeon HD 4850 with 512 MB of memory - a midrange gaming card at best and not up to the needs of high-end digital graphics work. Dell's power supply for the XPS is a bit anemic as well, at 350 w. After reviewing many options, we picked the NVIDIA Quadro line, and selected the PNY card based on several reviews. The card works as expected and has significantly improved the graphics design performance of the computer.
The sparse instructions made installation a bit challenging. In particular, the kit included a two-wire cable that was not described in the instructions; this is an SPDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) audio cable that must be connected between the card and the mother board if you want the HDMI interface to carry the audio signal. The SPDIF connections vary among mother boards and usually are either a 5-pin inline connector with one pin missing, or a 6-pin array with one pin missing. They may not be very well labelled on the mother board (as is the case with the XPS), so I spent a lot of time on the web trying to figure out what the cable was and how to hook it up. You will need a good light source and magnifying lens to read the imprints on the mother board. The card is advertised as having a 3-year warranty. However, you must register online in order to get the full warranty - otherwise it is one year only.

Although the listing did not say, this is an OEM item w/ no user manual or driver CD. But the price is low and delivery was fast.

We are using these in HP workstations. Took a chance on PNY instead of HP cards. Looks like everything is ok! No Issues what so ever.
