Upgraded from an FX 5900xt (not a bad card in its day) to this. Picture quality improved as well as overall performance. Also was able to unlock the extra pipes and shader unit from 12/5 to 16/6 without a hitch. Tiger Direct is very fast with shipping.
3dMark 03 went from 5450 (FX5900xt) to 10775!

Runs very cool, can be overclocked but have not tried as no need to! It runs all of my games on the highest settings with ease.

System spec's
XP 2800+ 2.1ghz
1.0gb Corsair ram Cas 2
PNY 6800GS using 83.40 WHRQ drivers
WD 250HD 7200.8
SS 80HD 7200.2
Audigy Platinum EX
2 DVD player recorders
Power supply Enermax 420w

I found the 6800GS to be a better deal over the 7800GS agp as my system (and any other Socket A or 3200 and lower cpu) would just be a waste on a 7800GS. Plus the price for the 6800GS (with Amazon discounts coupon only $158.00 w/ shipping. 7800GS around $300.00. With the 16 pipes enabled on my 6800GS it scores the same as a 6800GT!

If you want to run Quake 4, Doom 3, Half Life 2 - indeed all the latest games breaking new ground in visual detail, this card can do it with the highest quality settings (I know because I tried running these very three games at their respective highest quality settings, and was blown away - >60fps all through)

That aside, the 6800 GS is a rather special animal, because it has one pixel and one vertex pipeline disabled, each of which can potentially be unlocked (depending on your karma level), transmuting it into a 6800 GT.

I was able to successfully do so with my card. In addition, it appears that PNY uses very high quality components in its products - I was able to OC to 400Mhz/1100Mhz from the default 350Mhz/1000Mhz.

If you're upgrading from a less powerful card, the 16x antialiasing performance on this product alone is worth the upgrade!

Well, all things being equal, when this card worked it was freakin amazing. However, I'm just over a year into it and it's about dead. Screen is so bad it's impossible to see anything. I had to change back to my 128MB card. I'm not a 'power gamer', haven't overclocked, haven't had any other PC problems... this card just decided to go on me, leaving me with a less than optimal video situation.

This card was great for me. I did not want to upgrade my motherboard so that I could run a PCIe card, so I got this card instead, considering I had only standard PCI ports and 1 agp port. Despite not being a 512M card, it performed well for my online gaming purposes. Anti-aliasing effects worked well with World of Warcraft and URT 04. I also had no problems with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007. Sadly, however, I began to notice small imperfections in the graphics after about 7 months. By month 9 the card would overheat, completely shutting the card down (despite the insanely-sized cooling fan onboard the graphics card). I tweaked some of my cooling options and purcahsed a more powerful fan to aid in the cooling process and that helped for about 3 months. Eventually, despite all my best efforts (including replacign ym power supply in case the fan was not getting enough power, replacing the cooling fan in my case AND on the graphics card and limiting play time to 3-4 hours per day), the card failed completely. The card only had a 1 year warranty and I missed the warranty date by 11 days. Thankfully, I had registered my card online which re-upped the warranty. So if you buy this card, REGISTER IT ONLINE IMMEDIATELY!
