5.0 out of 5 stars Lightening speed at a great price!
I bought a pair of these and doubled the 2GBs that my HP dv6500t came with. Two important things (both positive.) 1)Unlike the experience of some other users and reviewers, my Vista 32-bit system shows all 4 GBs (not the three the same OS shows with 4GBs loaded into my DELL desktop) and, more importantly, 2) The speed of the laptop is now lightening fast. It was no...

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Description, January 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this ram for my early 2008 macbook which was starting to run a little slow. After I installed both modules and tried to boot my computer all I got was a black screen. After a quick search I found an apple forum page listing the same problem with a similar computer. It will work combined with one of the original modules but not in pairs, because the ram is incorrectly labeled pc2-5300 when it's actual pc2-6400 and NOT backward compatible with the slower pc2-5300 unless paired with a module of the correct speed.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY, February 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These modules are actually 800Mhz. PNY no longer makes or sells 667Mhz modules. Not all computers that require 667Mhz are compatible with 2 800Mhz modules. They refuse to down clock properly. This is especially true with a number of Core 2 Duo MacBooks. Spoke to PNY support, they flat out told me that yes, they sell 800Mhz modules in 667Mhz packaging. If you RMA a module that is 667Mhz (or supposed to be 667Mhz) they will replace it with an 800Mhz module as they no longer have any 667Mhz SODIMMs, not even for RMA replacement!

Horrible marketing department. Horrible RMA strategy.

Never buying another PNY product again!

But, at least their lead tech support person was honest. What I wrote above came directly from him!

They want me to return it to Amazon and make it Amazon's problem that PNY is selling them (and then on to consumers) mislabeled products!!!!!!!!

It was no slouch with the 2GBs, but now - well, if you appreciate speed you'll find this very modestly priced upgrade well worth your while. No problems whatever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with HP MINI 1033CL, November 26, 2008
This review is from: PNY OPTIMA 2GB DDR2 667 MHz PC2-5300 Notebook / Laptop SODIMM Memory Module MN2048SD2-667 (Personal Computers)
Even though HP states the new HP mini 1000 series has a max of 1GB RAM, this module works and it is recognized by XP home.

5.0 out of 5 stars MAC READY!!, January 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't know why there are many bad reviews on this product saying that it wont work for mac but it was so easy to instal on my late 2007 white macbook model 2, 1. For all mac users that say it doesnt work just push it in a little harder and itll work. PLUS the package that the ram is in has the Mac finder logo on it which means its mac compatible.

This was supposed to work on my Intel Imac. It didn't. I sent it back. The good news is that Amazon processed the return without a hassle (like usual). That's why I shop at Amazon so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap fix for memory upgrade, May 29, 2009
This review is from: PNY OPTIMA 2GB DDR2 667 MHz PC2-5300 Notebook / Laptop SODIMM Memory Module MN2048SD2-667 (Personal Computers)
I noticed my macbook was running really slow lately, so I decided to upgrade my ram from the factory cards. I knew nothing about replacing my ram, but it was actually really simple. I paid a fraction of what the apple store probably would have charged to do it for me. Now my mac is as fast as when i bought it. Great buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I saved $$$ just by buying this product - worked w/ Dell Inspiron 6000, October 30, 2010
I own a 5-year-old Dell Inspiron 6000 with only 512MB RAM. I was battling between buying a new laptop PC (about $750-$1,000 with the same caliber as my Dell) or purchasing additional RAM since my geriatric laptop is still working great, albeit the slowwwwness! Besides, I am not ready to let go of my Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 just yet, based on reading not-so-good reviews of Windows 7.

I made the mistake of buying this product in Best Buy ($44.95 + tax) just because I wanted to make sure it is the compatible one for my Dell (faster returns vs mailing it to Amazon). They were offering to install it for me for an additional $40 + tax because I told them I have never seen the insides of a computer. Long story short, technically-challenged as I am, I was able to install this intricate piece of genius in 15 minutes (including unscrewing the case of my Dell, re-screwing everything back, putting the equipment into its right place, and getting myself a glass of cold water). I was very nervous at first that it wouldn't work but when I turned the laptop on, lo and behold of all miracles, I couldn't believe that I was able to install this correctly and it is working PERFECTLY! Needless to say, I am planning to purchase my 2nd one, now through Amazon since I am positive this is the perfect fit for my Dell. Buying from Amazon is a no-brainer compared to Best Buy if you are sure of the compatibility with your computer.

I usually write PROs and CONs but I can not think of any CON to write. Oh, just make sure you hold the ends of this equipment, and that you are NOT DRUNK or else you might put it in the wrong slot :)

4.0 out of 5 stars PC Great, but MacBook beware, March 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So I've bought three sets of the 2x2GB PC2-5300 SODIMM for various computers. I have two Dell D620 Latitude laptops that these DIMM's work GREAT in. I recently acquired a MacBook 3,1 (A1181) 2.2 GHz and there seems to be a compatibility issue. I can get the Mac to boot with either 2GB DIMM in either slot, but not both at the same time.

Search for a Kingston PC2-5300 for Mac or see my other reviews.
