Amazing performance and price!,
This review is from: PNY VCG96GSO7XPB Verto GeForce 9600 GSO 768MB Video Card (Personal Computers)
Ordered this card about a week ago and wow huge difference in all my games. Before I bought this card I could barely play crysis on low, and with my new power supply coupled with this card everything on HIGH smooth as silk unbelievable. If you're hesitant to buy this card because of the price don't its excellent!

This is a gamer's card and I'm not a gamer. [...] Card is much longer - barely fit in my Antec P180 case - almost interfered with the bottom SATA connector on MB.. but got it in there. I run dual monitors... all set up went fine, colors good. But was disappointed when I opened Photoshop CS4 and under Preferences - Performance - the OpenGL was grayed out. The enhanced zoom and move enhancements were not available. They were on my 7300GT card. Not a big deal - but I spend a lot of time in Photoshop and the enhanced features were nice... when upgrading, you don't want to lose features. I may return because of this. PNY and Nvidia website was not helpful with this shortcoming of this card. I downloaded latest Nvidia driver - maybe this is a shortcoming of this driver? So far can't tell much difference in performance in watching videos, or in graphic programs (Photoshop, Illustrator). For gamers, you may see good improvements, for graphic designers... the 7300GT seems just as good.
EDIT: I downgraded driver and now works with OpenGL acceleration in Photoshop. Current driver has a glitch which should be fixed in next driver update. I will keep this card. I would add a star to rating but system won't let me.(see comments)

This particular PNY model card had a $40 rebate. After rebate, this is a fantastic deal. This is a good card for mid range computers, very quiet, runs cool, good driver support from nvidia. Good for video editing, watching video, etc. As always, carefully compare product specs to see if a particular model meets your needs. This card will play games, but is will not run high resolution well, or fast action games well, it is not that level of card.

Good bang-for-the-buck graphics upgrade,

I purchased this card to replace the 8600 GTS GeForce on my Dell XPS purchased some 2+ years ago, primarily to get better frame-rates on some newer games such as Crysis and Mass Effect. I have a core 2 duo @ 2.13Mhz w/ 2MB mem, and windows XP, and can now average 40+ fps w/ settings on medium to high at 1440x900, and 30-35 fps with all settings on high at 1440x900 (measured using Fraps) on Crysis...so I'm happy as the game is now very playable and looks fantastic.
After the [...] rebate this GPU came in at only [...] at the time I ordered it. Games like Fallout 3, STALKER, Bioshock, Dead Space, etc run super smooth w/ details maxed out. It is slightly bigger than my old GTS, but fits fine, and the fan noise doesn't seem to be any more noticeable, especially when playing games. I'm sure there may be better (but more expensive) cards out there, but for me as a casual gamer, this card met my upgrade needs. I'm not a hardcore gamer, and only have a basic level of tech knowledge, but my games look better and run smoother, and get more fps at higher settings, so this card works for me. Worth noting is that this GPU seems to be similar to the other PNY 9600 768 MB GSO-overclocked offered by Amazon, as I am getting a 575Mhz core clock (versus 550Mhz) using GPU-z, so this GPU seems to be overclocked as well. I had replaced my power supply a while back w/ a 550 watt unit, so if one is looking at buying this card, realize that a 400+ watt power supply is needed.

I got this card as a companion (I run 2 video cards in SLI mode) to the one that I won at Sony Online Entertainment's Fan Faire 2009. This was an upgrade to my (2) 7600 series. Wow what a boost! I know there are much newer cards out there, but not everyone can afford those top-of-the-line boards. For a person with a lower budget, this card will do what you need for most current games.

Great deal on Windows 7-compatible video upgrade,

I've been using ATI video cards for years, and to be honest, my last one wasn't that old and was working perfectly, but ATI decided not to support it for Windows 7, so I went shopping, keeping ATI's lack of interest in customer support at the front of my mind. The NVIDIA chipsets seem to be well regarded, and are supported for Windows 7, so I took the chance. It installed and worked flawlessly in XP and now (since my upgrade) in Windows 7. For a Windows 7 Aero-compatible upgrade, I'd say this is unbeatable.

I got this with a $[...]. [...] actually got back to me pretty quickly. This card is great for the price. Quiet, cool, and does what a gamer needs. It is bog though. I have a pretty big case so no probs, but you will not get this into any slim or narrow case. If your case can fit a card that has dual dvi slots then you should be fine.

This card does the job, and for the price ($[...]) I'm happy. My first card took a dump after 6 weeks. Contacting PNY was not difficult, and they issued me an RMA immediately. Because I'm in California and they're on the east coast it took over two weeks to get a replacement, but this was due to shipping speed (I tracked the package and they actually sent out a new card the day after they received mine, which I think is very respectable). It runs a little warm, around 70 C, and it seems to be programmed to do so. I know this because EVGA makes freeware to monitor your VGA, and it allows you to adjust your fan speeds and OC your card if you like, and it works with any nVidia card. When I turn the fan up to get the temp down, it only sticks for ten minutes or so, and then slows back down until the temp gets back to 69-70 C. This is at idle. Under load, the fan speeds up to keep the temp at that range, so I conclude that PNY expects it to run at that temp. The stock cooler isn't impressive, but it does the job. If it were a more expensive card I would probably replace it with an aftermarket cooler. I'm running a Intel Core Duo 2.93 Ghz with Windows 7 64bit with 6 gigs of ram, my Windows performance index is 5.8 with this card, with the card rating the lowest.
