I had researched this video card on other websites looking for a PCI video card. I have an older intel motherboard and wanted to stay with Nvidia products. Other websites showed this to be a PCI card. One of the pictures on Amazon's site shows a box saying PCI Express. This picture is not for this video card as this card is PCI, not PCI Express. I had contacted PNY after ordering this to confirm, they don't make the GeForce 8400GS in a PCI Express card. The other picture of the video card itself doesn't depict this video card either but the written info. about the video card is correct.

The video card itself is easy to install, works without any problems. If you have an older motherboard that doesn't support PCI Express this is the video card for you.

This card is excellent for hardware acceleration using many supported media players (i.e. VLC, or Media Player Classic - Homecinema, XBMC Live.)

If you don't want to buy a new computer for your high definition media viewing this card is for you. It allows you to play blu-ray @ full 1080p with very low CPU consumption. I have a pentium 4 2.4 ghz processor and when I play 1080p movies either using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema or XBMC Live, my cpu usage doesn't go over 10-12%. This is awesome because I didn't have to go out and spend 500+ on a new computer to allow me to watch the latest HD movies.

Since this card is standard PCI, most computers should come equipped with at least one on board. I want to test it out on an older pc with a lower processor to see how this card handles 1080p.

Overall an excellent card and it does what I bought it to do.....Play 1080p movies with little to no cpu consumption because of the hardware acceleration. I don't plan to game on this card and I wouldn't even try because I wouldn't consider this to be a gaming card.

This is not a PCIe card like the pictures of the card and box show. I wanted PCI, I looked at Nvidia's website and found that this card came in both PCI and PCIe format depending on who made it.

Ignore the Pictures and the product discription this is PCI.

Put the card in, loaded the drivers, and it works fine. I can now turn the graphics on Windows 7 all the way up with no problem. It's not meant for hard-core gaming, but it's a great card for the price.

I just have a few words for this card .... The Best Option you have for PCI Graphics card...The best upgrade I could have done to my computer which is about 6 years old and now thanks to this AWESOME upgrade it runs like a 2010 computer .. if you have a old computer and want to improve its performance but only have a PCI slot ..don't look any more this is as good as it gets .. remember this card is for PCI not PCI-Express ..don get confused they are 2 different slots !! now I used to have windows xp and it was already looking to old so When I saw windows 7 I said that's how I want my computer to look like !!! but my old computer did not support the new Aero and flip3d so I installed this PCI 8400 GS 512 mb and the computer or windows 7 recognized it in less than 4 minutes .. it only took a couple of clicks and there it was a brand new computer ..!!! better performance I would say that it improved by at leas 500% better image and speed 10 times better .. also it helps to download videos from youtube or any other site faster even if you have a slow internet connection !! so i would give this card 10 * out of 5!!! and also want to point that i was very impressed with the shipping !!! amazon rocks they said it would only take 5 to 9 days because I selected the super saving shipping for free so i was going to wait those days 5 to 9 but guess what ????? it only took 4 days and the card was at the door of my house !!!!big surprise e uh??? so if you want a better looking computer but have no too much money buy this card ,,, if you want a faster computer ... buy this card .. if you want to be able to install windows 7 and be able to use all it features.. buy this card..if you cannot buy a new computer a 2010 model ... buy this card for less than 60 dollars !! the last words .... PCI 8400 gs 512 mb ....... THE BEST YOU CAN GET !!!!!!!!

This is an ok card for the money BUT if you are a gamer this card suffers from very low frame rates on games like WoW and Call of Duty4.If you are running windows apps this card works awsome and movies look great too... So for movie people and heavy windows users this card is great, but if you are a gamer the GeForce 6200A is a better choice

I bought this card because I wanted to run a 3 montor setup and my board only had one pci xpress slot. There isn't a huge market for xpress x1 cards, so I had to go pci.

My main card (Asus 9600gt) is running my main monitor (so I can still game) and my hdtv (so I can use it with Windows Media Center).

This card that I am reviewing is only being used to run my second monitor (right next to my gaming/main monitor). I only use this card to drag folders and documents over to it. It stutters a bit when dragging and maximize windows. When dragging a document from the main monitor to this card's monitor it gets a little choppy. This is most noticeable when using the Windows 7 (x64) auto-maximize feature, when you drag a window to the top of the screen and it maximizes/minimizes it for you.

I dont play videos, games, movies, anything on this card. I just use it to help spread documents and folders across the 2 monitors, and for that it works fine.

I'm a 17 year old home builder and i have a slightly older PC that i use in my room. I run a 2.8 P4 and had 512 RAM, but just upgraded with the buy together on this product ;) The card installed with extreme ease, almost no experience would be needed to install it. the software works great too. This is a great buy!

Besides the s-video cable, hello people we get better quality from the dvi port and most hd tvs now have one or two. Card fit fine, installed in 5 minutes its a secondary card for a 3 monitor span. Btw Dell Demin. computers suck, the card is fine dell makes the weird shaped sized motherboards my friends old 2300 was like that the pci slot was offset like Dell did it on purpose b/c you didn't upgrade the computer through them. Anyways cards great, and cheap, and pci not express. Cheapest on here then tiger market, newegg, frys, and other computer depots.

i bought this card so i can live with my pc until i built a new one and its great! installation was easy, it works on my dimension 3000 standered 250 watt psu. and it even games a little. I can play Border lands-low/med, Team Fortress 2 high/med in dx 9 mode, all the halflifes high, And both left 4 dead 1 and 2 at low, and surprisingly crisis at all low settings! And all of these games having great fps with only a p4 2.8ghz and 1 gig of ram!! The only problem sop far is that i cant even us the brackets on my dimension 3000 because for some reason the pci connectors are father back and the bracket stops it from coing in right but i solved it with using the vga port on the bracket part so it doesnt flop around. but overall a good card for someone who wants a pci card that wants to do some low end gaming.
