Product Description

Play 5 popular card games: Hearts, Spades, Euchre, Gin and Canasta.

In Hearts, the goal is to win as few points-paying hearts as possible or to win all the points-paying cards at once. The winner is the one who finishes with the game with the fewest points. In Spades, the goal is to bid and win a specific number of hands, by playing the highest card by round or by playing the highest spade. The team that bids and wins the most hands, wins the game. In Euchre, the goal is for you and your partner to get as many tricks per round as possible. You get tricks by having the highest trump card or highest suited card if no trump card is played. The team that scores 10 points first wins. The goal of Gin is to make sets of cards, based on runs in suit or matching rank. The player who can make the most matches earliest typically wins. In Canasta, you make sets of up to seven cards. The player who first makes sets of all his cards will make the most points typically wins.

Learn and master each game through in-depth tutorials with rules and tips on how to improve your play and track your stats across all 5 games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hearts, Spades, Euchre, Gin, Canasta August 18, 2011
Verified Purchase
I've been collecting the Electronic Arts games for Kindle, such as EA Solitaire and SCRABBLE.

Hearts, Spades, Euchre, Gin, and Canasta are done well here.

Hearts is a longtime favorite -- passing three cards, then avoiding hearts and the queen of spades. Or collecting them all, to Shoot the Moon. After your cards are given to you, a letter appears over each card for which one you want to play. This worked well, but there is the option of using the selector instead to choose cards.

In Spades, make a bid, with Spades as trump. You and your partner will try to score that many points. Again, this played well.

Canasta and Gin are both done in 2 player versions.

There is no Multiplayer capability. Indeed, there are no available options at all, such as setting player strength. I would have prefered a few options here, as EA did with Scrabble.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it August 20, 2011

I have been waiting for a game like this. So glad Electronic Arts finally did it. I have a lot of their games. As the first reviewer stated electronic Arts did a fine job with it. I agree that it would be nice to have an option to set the strength of the Kindle player and also a multiple player option too. I have played all the games and they play very well. There is no slowness at all on the part of the Kindle player. In fact, it has an annoying trend to go out with concealed hands in Canasta!! That aside, I highly recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay! Hearts!! September 4, 2011

I love playing hearts on my iPod and Android phone, and was hoping someone would make this game for the Kindle too. While I do use my Kindle for reading books for probably 99.999999% of the time, I like having a game or two to play. Sometimes I have a hard time concentrating on reading if my hubby is talking on his phone to someone, so I just switch over to a game to play until I can concentrate on reading again. (I know, sounds like I need to focus more on being able to concentrate, doesn't it?) Anyhow, back to the game, I like being able to play by just pressing the top row of keys. I've only played Hearts so far, but this game is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Fast and Addictive! September 1, 2011

I play these games regularly on POGO and was delighted to find them packaged for my Kindle. They are fun, easy to play, and the response time on the Kindle is excellent. The graphics are good and navigation is easy. I have also downloaded (and love) other EA games and am thrilled to have these card games available. I have test driven all 5 of them and they play very smoothly, as I expected they would. Euchre is my favorite. Just one more thing to compete with my reading time!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pogo games September 18, 2011

I ejoy all the games but watch out for Canasta. I think the kindle cheats. It seems if you get a bit ahead it manages to go out immediately. you will lose at least 99 percent of the time. I don't mind losing but would like to win once in a while. I am not that bad of a player so know it is set up that the kindle wins no matter what. But still fun to play. Eurche is the only game I don't play much as I don't understand the rules yet. But if you enjoy these card games it's worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars In some towns this game would be tarred and feathered December 5, 2011

I was really tickled to see this particular set of card games, due to the inclusion of Canasta. I grew up playing Canasta with my grandmother and her friends, I didn't win a hand for years - those ladies were experts at the game and very tough to beat, there was no cheating and everyone was straight up on penny a point. I'd really like to sit my new Canasta opponent, Lewis, down with my grandmother and her friends. Lewis has a knack for just always coming up with the right card at the right time. Also, I have never, never, seen anyone that can lay a canasta out by the 2nd round as often as he does.

My other friends are equally amazed as I am with Lewis, we just don't leave him in the room with our purses or cash.

The only enjoyment any of us are getting out of the game is watching Mirclemaker Lew do his magic - I think someone needs to fix the programming for Lewis a bit where Canasta is concerned.

Sorry guys one star from me for this.

2.0 out of 5 stars charged wrong price January 22, 2012

I enjoy playing the game but when I bought it, it said it was .99 for a limited time which would be why I bought it but then I was charged the full 3.99 price. I was very disappointed at that.
