I have to agree with the review by 'Trucker' when he says the quality is poor. While the disk that screws onto the polisher is good and strong, and the velcro holds well, the pads have very little wool and it stops short of the edges, leaving the stitching showing around the edge. I did just what he was warning about...I gouged the surface of my boat by tipping the pad slightly. Once that happens you can't buff it out. It's almost impossible to polish in a recess or where the surface changes to a concave shape without getting that edge in there, and then, gouge!

I would send them back except for the price, it's not worth the effort. But I'm looking for something better now.

**Added later:
I did send these back and got a refund from Amazon (way to go!)
I recommend buying the [Makita 192629-7 7-Inch Hook and Loop Pad for 9227C Sander/Polisher] which is sold on Amazon. These have been working great for me. Read my review.

Will ruin your car! Poor Quality! I bought the following buffer:
Neiko Professional-Grade Variable Speed 7 Inch Car, Truck and Boat Polisher - Buffer - 1.75 HP, and upon the suggested recommendation from amazon purchased these wool bonnets. Comes in a set of 3 (and a backing plate that I do not need as the buffer comes with one and the extra say's "max 1200 RPM's" so I didn't use it anyway).

Issues:
1) As others have stated bits of the wool will fly off so while you are buffing you are semi-removing scratches but buffing pieces of wool into your car at the same time - not exactly serving it's purpose and if anything possibly putting new scratches there.
2) MAIN ISSUE: As many have said the stitching on the sides is simply ABYSMAL. After just 10 mins of use on 1500 RPM-2000 RPM's the stitching on the sides started to quickly unravel. Mid-buff I did not realize until I quickly uncovered the area to reveal it has DEEPLY scratched the front hood of my car. The wool bonnet had started tearing off the velcro plate and the remaining velcro/backing plate of device started grouting into my car. I stopped immediately but the damage had been done in 3 close areas. Will never buy this product (The wool bonnets) again, and I highly suggest you also do not as the cost of fixing my car now will supersede the money i paid for my buffer + these useless pads. ANNOYED and now have to pay to fix it :/

While the velcro backing pad appears to be decent the pads are the cheapest I've run across. Because they only go to the edge of the backing pad they leave the user with the very real possibility of gouging the surface with the edge. I admit I was not expecting the quality of a 3M wool buffing pad but this is a disappointment.

DON'T BUY! The stitching on the pads is so bad that I couldn't do an entire door on my truck without it ripping apart. The velcro holds, it's the stitches that fail. The pad itself doesn't get enough use to get beat up either. I tried all three pads at different speeds & pressure and all three were garbage.
The best thing is that if it does while you're in full spin on your vehicle it just grinds the rough underside into your paint.

If you are buffing a flat surface where you did not have to worry about the edges doing damage the surface of these pads are good. But they are stitched around the perimeter and cause damage if you are not careful. I don't like them and would never ask anybody to purchase them. I have buffed out a lot of cars and these are awful.

They arrived and looked exactly as described. Easy to install. My issue is that when buffing you hold the wheel at an angle. When I was polishing the side of my RV the edge of the wheel scratched my vinyl graphics before I realized what was happening. I've never had a wool pad do that before but there is no "wool" on the edges of these pads. They work okay but I threw the bonnet and pads away and had to get different style. I'll forego the ease of the velcro for the function of a pad that wraps around the bonnet.

Been in "the bussness" for >40+ years, and the pads with the stitching around the outside edge should avoided,,, at all costs. They will bite a finish in a heart beat, even if you're experianced. Beleive this!!

I will say the price is right for this offering and you could cut the edges off the pads and use them for hand applicators for glazes and waxs, the main velcro pad that goes on the buffer is well worth the price.

Overall, I'd rate this kit as "almost mediocre". The backing wheel is the only saving grace.. it's actually pretty good, and I've used it on several jobs over the past few months (marine polishing). The pads, however, are useless. Well.. maybe not.. if you are looking for a cheap frizbee or you need some big round coasters for a coffee table, you might have use for them.. but they have no business ever seeing duty as a buffing pad.

If I say that the buffing disks are very poor quality, I'd be insulting other very poor quality buffing disks. These are bad in every way.. the pile is too low, the stitching falls apart, the threads mar the work surface, and the hook and loop fastners give out in short order. Seriously. Draw a face on it and make it a piece of art for your kid or something...

The backing plate is shockingly well made, though, so if you need that and a few shooting targets, this isn't a bad way to go.
