Product Description

From the Manufacturer

A classic skill and action game since 1937! Includes flippers, baskets, ball. Backboards and scoring dials. Ages 5+

Product Description

The POOF-Slinky 0C602 Ideal BAS-KET Street Hoops is a classic skill and action game that features a full-court basketball game in a tabletop format, first introduced in 1937 and now with a new look. Each player operates levers that shoot the ball toward the basket. Whether a ball drops into the basket depends upon just how far back the lever was pulled. Practice makes perfect. Drop the ball from a height of about 12-inches onto the center of the floor to begin play. Scoring is the same as in regular basketball and can be changed throughout the game on the backboards. (2) points for court shots and (3) points for shots from the furthest two holes back from the basket. If the ball lands in the free throw hole, that player gets (1) free throw attempt for (1) point. When a player knocks the ball off the court, the opponent gets the ball at the center position. If the ball comes to a stop on the court where a shot cannot be made, drop it on the center court as if the game were beginning. Play can continue until a certain amount of points determine the winner. This game contains a basketball court, ball, (2) backboards and scoreboards, (2) basketball nets, (6) paddle flippers, (6) levers with detachable clips and instructions. Ideal’s BAS-KET Street Hoops Basket Skill Game is designed for 1-4-players, measures 20.75-inches by 2.75-inches by 13-inches and weighs 2.75-pounds. Ideal has been providing classic toys, magic sets, board games, tabletop games and other activities that parents trust and kids love since 1907. Providing classic toys, magic sets, board games, tabletop games and other activities that parents trust and kids love since 1907
How It’s Played?
The object of the game is to shoot your ball into the hoop by pulling your lever back just the right amount. This game is fast paced and will keep your child entertained for hours as they figure out the perfect speed and angle to score points. If you pull back too hard, your ball will go too far and you won’t score any points. Scoring is the same as in regular basketball and has 2-pointers, 3-pointers and free throws.

Improves Fine Motor and Social Skills
This rendition of the classic basketball game features a full-court basketball game in a tabletop format that will test your fine motor skills, spatial intuition and overall aim. Keeping score will help kids learn basic math skills and measuring distance versus speed. This is the perfect activity for parties, sleepovers or family game night. Totally portable, BAS-KET Street Hoops Basket Skill Game can be played anywhere and disassembled for portability and storage, plus there’s no battery to replace or power plugs to contend with.

Fun For All Ages
It combines elements of basketball with arcade style games and makes for an entertaining night with family and friends. Unlike trivia games that require reading or have adult themes, this game can be played by younger kids 5-years of age and older. It comes with a sliding score keeper so you don’t forget the score and instructions.

What's In The Box?
Ideal's BAS-KET Street Hoops Basket Skill Game includes a basketball court, ball, (2) backboards and scoreboards, (2) basketball nets, (6) paddle flippers, (6) levers with detachable clips and instructions.

If you are looking for a re-creation of the basketball game of your past, forget it. When this game was originally sold, it had metal levers that could be adjusted to make the ball shoot more accurately. This model has hard plastic levers which have no give in them and makes it really hard to be accurate with your shot. In fact, it is almost impossible to make a shot from the free throw line because the ball consistently hits the lower part of the front of the rim. The plastic levers also will fall out if you move the playing floor of the game for any reason. I was a big fan of the old version when I was a kid and played it for hours at a time but bought this one for my grandson and we both got so annoyed because you couldn't score any points that he quit wanting to play it. I finally had to put something underneath the backboards to be able to hit a shot once in a while. Don't waste your money on this!! If you can find an older version with the metal levers you would be better off.

I bought this game because the original one which I have owned for 40 years is finally showing some wear. As a school psychologist, I use this toy frequently when working with children. I was so excited when the product arrived at my home, that I opened it immediately and put it together. My 15 year old son and I began to play. He thought is was a "cool" game. Out of approximately 100 shots, only 3 made it into the basket. Many of the shots just went straight up and down. I was extremely disappointed in the cheap plastic levers and baskets! This game is unplayable. My son agreed. Also, in order to store the game away, you would have to take it apart. In the original game, the metal baskets fold, and the levers easily fit inside the box. After 20 minutes of play, I took the game apart, put all the pieces back in the bag, and closed the box. I then placed it in the carton in which it arrived. I went on line to Amazon and requested a return authorization. I placed the return authorization in the carton, taped the box closed, and placed the UPS return label on the carton. I immediately drove to the UPS store to return this terrible game. If you remember the original and enjoyed playing it for hours either by yourself or with friends, do not purchase this product! If you have never played this before, don't even consider buying it!

I played this game as a kid and was so excited to see it re-introduced! This game can be VERY addicting. It does require some skill to shoot the ball just right - and there are tons of laughs to go around when the ball doesn't roll where you want it to. Great game to play with the kids or other adults - great way to play a lively interactive game that provides opportunity for real interaction with your opponent.

I too had this game back in the 60s and thought that it would be fun to play it again. Unfortunately, this is a cheaply made reproduction. It was hard to assemble, it is hard to score (impossible from the free throw line), and it is frustrating to play. We played it once or twice and have not played it again.

I purchased this game thinking that I would get the one that I had back 30 years ago. That basketball set was so fun all my friends used to skip high school and set up leagues to play for hours at a time. What a hoot! Who needed drugs, sex and rock and roll when you had this?
I was sorely disappointed when I got the newer model with the plastic levers rather than the old steel ones. Can't hit a shot for nothing and I used to be the all-time leading scorer. It ruined what was going to be a great Christmas morning with my children. Now it has sat all year unused. What a waste. Sooooo Disapointed!

I had one of the original Bas-Ket games when I was a boy. I kept it for years and my sons played with it until one of them accidently stepped on the game surface and ruined it.

Years later, I saw this on Amazon and ordered two of them. I gave one to my grandson for Christmas. My son told me a short while later that the game had already broken and was not nearly as good quality as the original because the flippers that "throws" the ball are now made of PLASTIC instead of metal.

The makers of the modern game ruined one of the best games ever made by using cheap plastic instead of durable metal.

I could not have been more disappointed. Companies don't seem to have pride in their products any more; the bottom line is all that matters.

I was expecting to receive the same basketball game I played in my youth, complete with metal levers and baskets already hinged to the scoreboards. Instead, I got a replica that uses plastic levers that have very little give required to launch the ball from the various spots on the board. Not what I expected!!

Very disappointing product. We had one when we were kids and we played for hours. The mechanism under the box to hurl the balls to the net was metal and worked very well. It was great fun. As with most products, they tried to reproduce the mechanism with plastic. It was impossible to get the ball in the net except from the farthest point on the court. From the foul line the only thing you could do was blast it over the backboard. My son and I used it for about 30 minutes before we got bored and frustrated. It will go to the church bazaar this year. Thank God it was only 15 or 20 [..] Don't buy this one. Its a waste.
