5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best head for the porter cable Orbiter
Hi All I Just revied the portercable Orbirter, gave it 5 stars! this polishing head made for it by Porter Cable is the only one you want! Other Co. offer a velcro screw on head with Velcro polishing pads. we have found that the velcro doesnt last and hold!( my friend had problems with (the velcro) from only useing it for the second time in a two day period) as a result...

This was the worst product I've used, the glue that bonds the pad to the Black Plastic part disintegrated after first use. and what is left of the glue does not hold the pad, so it fell apart during operation. the problems is I use it once every 6 months, so can't return it to Amazon. I would recommend using Orange Foam Polishing Pad from Griots Garage. this is washer...

Hi All I Just revied the portercable Orbirter, gave it 5 stars! this polishing head made for it by Porter Cable is the only one you want! Other Co. offer a velcro screw on head with Velcro polishing pads. we have found that the velcro doesnt last and hold!( my friend had problems with (the velcro) from only useing it for the second time in a two day period) as a result the pads went flying off the head. this is a fast way to damage your paint if the head with out a pad touches your car! buy plenty of them, (part # 54745) ... this will make your car/truck polishing job ten times easer with results that are un real! A SUPER SAFE SHINE!

I've not had any of the problems experienced by the earlier reviewer. I've used the original pad 2-3 times a year on two cars without problem. I moisten, but don't wash the pad. Used now for 3 years. Leaves a nice finish and almost effortless to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than other loop&hook pads, March 31, 2006

I have tried several pads for this orbital buffer. Especially those sold by Griot's garage and I have to say that these original P/C pads work the best for me. They are soft enough, yet firm enough and much thicker than the other pads. One drawback is that they do not last any longer, but then they are cheaper than the hook and loop pads anyway.

I would recommend using Orange Foam Polishing Pad from Griots Garage. this is washer prove and you should be able to wash the pad, because the wax/polish has different chemical compound.

Should come with the purchase of the buffer. Does not last that long but does the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Polishing Pad, October 3, 2005
This review is from: PORTER-CABLE 54745 Polishing Pad for 7424 Polisher (Tools & Home Improvement)
This pad is a perfect companion to the Porter-Cable Random Orbital Polisher. I am anal about waxing and polishing our cars on a regular basis. Now I can get a quick and swirl free shine.

5.0 out of 5 stars These pads are the BEST but beware!, February 14, 2012

Like another user reported they do die with age. Even if you have not opened the package the foam will deteriorate and pad fall apart. You must use with in a year or so as even the new pads will fall apart after that!

These pads are the best for applying wax products

2.0 out of 5 stars paint scratcher. Beware, January 10, 2012
This review is from: PORTER-CABLE 54745 Polishing Pad for 7424 Polisher (Tools & Home Improvement)
this pad came with my porter cable DA polisher. I tried it out with some hi-end wax on the roof of my car. Initally I thought it was doing just fine, but after wiping off the wax, I found circular scratch marks that definetly were not there previously. the Car had just been washed and was dry. I did not use extensive pressure, just let the polisher do the work for me and I used enough wax, too. It's a 2001 Porsche 911 (which is supposed to have "Hard" paint in the first place)
Have ordered Lake County softest pads and will try out in a inconspicuous area before letting loose on the body of my baby.

You've been warned!

5.0 out of 5 stars Polishing Pad for 7424, December 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PORTER-CABLE 54745 Polishing Pad for 7424 Polisher (Tools & Home Improvement)
Purchased the 7424 as a sander and not a polisher. It has a dust shroud that can attache to a vacuum. I love the product as a sander so I purchased the polishing pad for several other jobs. I thought it worked like I hoped it would. I polished my 16'X13' hardwood floor with it and had no problems. It washed out just fine and is ready to use again. I saw no wear on the foam buffing pad. When using the tool you should not apply a lot of force. The weight of the tool is all that's needed to polish a flat surface, extra pressure will only wear out the pad and possibly mar the surface being polished.
