4.0 out of 5 stars POTF Red 5, November 15, 2008

This review is from: POTF Electronic Power F/X Luke's Red Five X-Wing (Toy)
This is a really nice rendition of the X-Wing, even just leaving it on the shelf. Mine is over 10 years old, and was lost, I found it recently, and set it on a shelf. The ship is BIG, it is a least the size of the original Studio Scale models used for filming, and maybe even a little larger.
The detailing is excellent for a toy, the proportions are nearly perfect except for the rear of the hull where the R2 is, that "machinery" strip is a little wide, but only a model builder or professional would notice that. Otherwise, the ship is very close to the original.
The markings, "stickers" in this case, are accurate to the Red 5 paint on the original. I do remember that they have to be applied to the ship by the user, so an adult will need to do that or they will be a mess.
The ship has little educational value, other than being a nestalgic toy.
The only negetives I see with it are that the four wing tip cannons can be easily lost as they detach from their monts fairly easily. A little Super Glue could fix that, though.
The wings are a little thin and they don't open as wide as the original model, but could be made to with some modelling work....
Other than that, it's a beautiful rendition of this very sleek and dangerous looking fighter from Star Wars.

Did I mention this thing is HUGE? Almost 20 inches nose to Turkey Feathers. It's fairly heavy, as well.

If you're looking for one, grab it before they aren't around anymore. It's very nice looking and far more accurate than the other X-Wing toy. It has speech and sound, too, but I forget what all it does because my copy's batteries are shot. I believe it has engine sounds and laser sounds, accurate effects for the ship from the movie, plus phrases by Luke, Obi Wan and R2-D2.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this, October 4, 2006

This is a great item I love this. The targeting computer lights up when Obi Won talks in a ghost voice. You can pull it forwards or backwards with a lever and there is a second lever that when you pull back all the way one of the phrases can be heard. There is a retractable stand that you can pull out. This is one of my favorite X-wing fighters and I have 3 different X-wing fighters.

This Xwing collectable toy is one of the coolest mold of the xwing fighter evermade! Its heavy! Its alive! The authenic detail is worth having this collectable. I have bought Star Wars model kits in the past; this collectable surpasses those revell molds. One of the cool features is the handle, which can hide under the rear belly of the starfighter. Kenner's mold from the power of the force collection made this Xwing durable. It seems Hasbro copy the configuration for Wedge Attiles's Xwing.( maybe a clothpin and small magnets can fix the right wings where the brown ladder separated them?)
The movie sounds are awesome, the engines lights igniting realistic. If one plans to make a fanbase film, this xwing will out weight a cg model. This collectable is worth every penny.
Now if the can rebuild AT-AT like the AT-ST and make Jabba's Sailbarge to Skiff scale, we SW fans shall rejoice.
