Way over priced,
This review is from: PPROKTKTGPE - Visonic Powermax Pro w/ Built-in GSM and PowerLink Module (Electronics)
While this item is a great item, it is two and a half time the cost than almost every site I seen it on. I suggest you go to eBay where it is only 308.00.

Visonic Wireless Alarm system,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PPROKTKTGPE - Visonic Powermax Pro w/ Built-in GSM and PowerLink Module (Electronics)
I've had the alarm system for a few weeks now and I have a few comments. The installation was relatively easy but the menu system takes a little getting used to. With the GSM module, I ran into the problem of 'RSSI Poor', so I could not get the SMS alerts to work. After some fruitless troubleshooting and moving the panel around the house trying to get a stronger signal, I decided to use a different SIM card and I eventually got that to provide the stronger signal I needed. Therefore I would recommend that you buy the optional GSM Antenna to boost the signal in the GSM module.
However one needs to be aware that partitioning is optional in this panel and unless you specifically ask for it, you will not get it. Partitioning allows you to set the alarm in one part of your property while leaving another part unarmed. This panel can support up to 4 partitions, if you have this optional feature. I was not aware that it was optional until I contacted Visonic, but there is no way I could have known by just ordering from Amazon. So my panel has no partitioning, well, except the single default partition. In my opinion, this is basic functionality and should have been included by default. Another thing I found is that with the sensors, the magnet only works on one side of the transmitter (the side with the little red light). If the magnet is put on the other side, it is as if the door/window is open and the alarm cannot be armed. This is a bit awkward. If you have 2 windows side by side, you cannot share one transmitter with 2 magnetic contacts. Every window must have its own transmitter and magnetic contact. The transmitters have no holes to screw into the window/door. You must use an adhesive or double-sided tape. Other than that, everything else works fine.

This is the only home security unit that can call you with an alarm voice message, and send an alarm text message, saving monthly service fees. Internet functionality is limited to setting alarm on/off and status of sensors. I am not using the PowerLink module.
I use this unit with a 2-way remote keypad. Installation/programming took me 2 days without support. A T-mobile prepaid SIM card works well in this unit. GSM can be used as backup for telephone line or can be the primary communication channel. You can send text messages from your phone to remotely control the unit, or get system status. The wireless sensors are easy to install. I like the jamming detection feature. Installed 3 weeks ago, so far it works as expected.
