Finally, the questions within the practice tests were not similar to any of the questions found on the actual test.

Since ETS does not offer an "official" study guide for this particular exam (nor does Kaplan or Princeton Review), I bought this study guide with the hope that it would help me to adequately prepare for the 0011/5011 exam. After reviewing this book at the book store, it seemed to be pretty comprehensive. The book was published in 2012, so I figured that it would probably be the most relevant. However, much to my surprise and utter disappointment, this book proved to be a totally ineffective study guide for a few reasons.

First and foremost, very little of the material in this book was actually applicable to the test itself. You will learn a lot about theory, instruction methods, etc. from the book (as the title of the test indicates). However, many of the questions found on the ACTUAL test administered by ETS are more content based than anything else. Granted, it is ETS's fault for administering an unreliable, invalid test loaded with questions that are not true to the test's purpose or title. However, this does not change the fact that the authors should be familiar with current testing information and types of questions to ensure that they are actually offering a helpful and sufficient study guide that contains useful/relevant information.

Secondly, the practice tests in this book were significantly easier than the questions found on the actual test, which created a false sense of confidence.

Finally, the questions within the practice tests were not similar to any of the questions found on the actual test.

Passing the teaching exam was easier because I used this study guide. The practice tests really helped me understand what areas I already knew and what areas I needed more help with. It also helped me to stay organized and manage my study time effectively. If you need one good place to get all of the basic information needed for teaching elementary education, this is the place. The book offers a comprehensive look at what's required and gives you a good idea on what the test is going to be like. You can also get plenty of practice with it. It is a thorough review and well worth what I paid for it. Great value!

I liked the way this book had each topic in sections complete with a practice test. Also, a comprehensive test at the end...I found the book very helpful!

This book came in handy in preparing for my test. Perhaps, the book could've offered some type of vocabulary list for the bold-typed words that it contained. But, I did find that the two practice tests came in handy.

This study guide is awesome because it provides an in depth review of the info. I need to prepare for the 5015 Praxis II test. There are no other reliable text books to help a test taker prepare, so I believe this book is the closest in preparing you for the exam. An ETS administrator recommended for me to find study guides that covered the 0011/0012 test because the 5015 is a revised combination of these two exams (0011 0012 is now called the 5015)

This book covers learning and development, effective teaching strategies, the pedagogy of: Language Arts, Social Studies and Science, Phy Ed. & Music (However, she said that the Music/Phys. Ed can be skipped because this is not part of the test).

There are two practice tests that give a real life test experience-so I'm going to work on these. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has to take the 5015 Praxis II test! Its a great review of what you learned from grade school to high school.

(I hope & pray that I pass the Praxis II. (I'm saying my prayers- I'll let you all know how this book prepared me for the exam)

This book and the practice tests were helpful. I was able to study and understand what I need to know for the test. The test is not exactly like the practice tests but it was close enough I know I would not have done as well without this study resource.

After 38 graduate credits in el ed, I knew a lot of this information. It was a very basic review. The tests were somewhat helpful. After taking the test, I can't say this book was particularly helpful as I did not find the test terribly difficult and did not feel many of the questions were related to the material I reviewed.
