Book Description

Loveswept 497 April 1, 1991
Heartbroken divorcée Bev Brewster goes back to work as a private investigator to get her mind off romance—only to meet a seductive detective who initiates a tantalizing game of cat and mouse
Hot on the trail of an adulterous wife, private investigator Bev Brewster meets her match: detective Sam Nichols, who sees through her conservative veneer. Ignoring Bev’s efforts to deflect his primal urges, Sam is determined to awaken her long-dormant sexuality.

Forced to work together on a high-profile case to flush out a con man, they go undercover on a luxury cruise. Sam’s raw sexuality paralyzes Bev, and she feels her own desire sapping her self-control. If she isn’t careful, she may end up with exactly what she’s sworn off: romance. And a man who can take her to places she’s never been before.

This ebook features an illustrated biography of Suzanne Forster including rare photos from the author’s personal collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than expected, January 14, 2011
This review is from: PRIVATE DANCER (Loveswept 497) (Mass Market Paperback)
Bev is working at her father's detective agency while he is recovering from a heart attack and when she sees the supposedly philandering wife she's tailing meet with a "roughneck" she is sure he must be the woman's lover so she tails him. Unfortunately, he isn't the woman's lover he's Sam, another private detective who starts to trail her. There is nothing here that is brilliant but it's a rather fun read. Even though it's 20 years old it still seems rather fresh, with only a small about of overt alphamaleitis holding it back. Bev is a goodie two shoes who believes in love, marriage and happily ever after while Sam believes in fast cars and faster women (that's women, plural). He doesn't want love or a relationship after his wife left him after he was shot five years before. But, unfortunately for him when he meets Bev he falls instantly in lust and no amount of common sense seems to keep the two of them apart. As unlikely a pair as they are, their coming together is nothing but fun.

There could have been a little more length at the end to solidify their relationship being the ending was all about Bev accepting Sam just the way he is, but if he keeps up his philandering ways or leaves for weeks without letting her know he's going out of town I would bet money Bev would be out the door. There were still more problems that even an extra page or two could have sorted out where they both make concessions to be together, being the changes Sam made seemed to be pretty shallow. But if you are expecting a slightly sexy, slightly silly, slightly dated, slightly sweet tale of romance and roughnecks this is just what the doctor ordered.
