I thought I would spend more to get a quality product and I purchase this (Pro-1) Hot Knife and it is only 6 months old and it is already dead. It had very light use. I would say it probably had one hour of total use. Don't waste your money on this product.

I bought one of these to cut grooves in my ICF (Insulating Concrete Forms) basement for electric wires and outlet boxes. I did a total of about 7 drops and boxes and had no issues at all with the tool.

Works great for this type of work and was much easier then trying to cut out the channels by hand (plus it was very messy trying to cut it). Pretty solid tool.

I work at a high school that goes ALL OUT for Spirit Week decorations, and most of them are made of 1- to 2-inch styrofoam. This cutter was indespensible as we sliced our way through sheet after sheet (after sheet after sheet!) of styrofoam. It is worth every penny if you have cut lots of styrofoam. However, it's important to keep in mind that melting styrofoam gives off noxious fumes, so it's vital to work in an extremely well ventilated area!

When i received my hot knife, I plugged it in and it went out within 2 minutes. It never worked again. I sent it back and received another one. I was able to use it for about 5 minutes. It then cut off and never came back on. I am going to send it back again.

The company I purchased it from was very nice and did send me a new one. I hope they will do the same again. I may just ask for my money back and try one from another company.

I used it to burn lines in my stryofoam basement walls for electric wire, it took along time to burn a groove 7 foot long by 2 inch gap for the wire. The handle broke before I was half way done using it. I had to take it to a welder and have it spot welded back together

this thing might work for foam, but it does not work for wax. i am sorry that i bought this.
