I haven't had the heater long enough to comment on its durability or cost of operation, but I've read reviews from customers who've owned them for up to 8 years (apparently as long as they've been made) with no problems, and many reviews that rave about how little propane they use. (One reviewer said 1/10th as much as his previous--very popular name-brand--portable gas heater.)

It is the handsomest, most unobtrusive, simplest to install and operate, most beautifully designed heater of any kind I have ever seen--and the professional LP man who hooked it up was blown away by the excellence & simplicity of the mechanisms and the accuracy of the thermostat. He had never seen or heard of a gas heater that could use either LP or NG w/no adjustments or conversion kit.

We bought it as a supplement to our vented Jotul propane stove, but I swear it could heat our small two-story house by itself. It was our sole source of heat last week as we waited for the Jotul to be installed, and the second-lowest setting on the (five settings) thermostat is the highest we've turned it. With nighttime temps in the lower 20s this week, even at the lowest setting we've several times shut it off completely because our upstairs bedrooms were too warm. On the next mornings it took no time at all to warm up the house. Just amazing!

I didn't buy the blower fan, knowing that the best possible heat-distribution is via ceiling fans reversed on low speed, which we already have.

The enamel is beautiful, a soft ivory white. The heater can be wall-hung or sit right on a hard floor, but because I changed my mind and decided to put it in the carpeted hall instead of a wood floor, I ordered the neat little bolt-on feet that raise it 2".

I purchased this heater to help warm my home last winter. It did a wonderful job. I purchased the blower fan to go with it and it makes a remarkable package.

Pro com has a monopoly of the wall heater market. If you look up glow warm and that sub brand, it has been purchased by Procom I bought 2 -18000 BTU units. One went out the same season so I bought another one, not realizing they are all the same brand. The other two eventually went out (which means fails to stay lit or fails to light).

I called Procom and was told I couldn't be helped unless I had the model number. The model number is not printed within view of an installed unit. The number is on the back which is against the wall. After retrieving the model number I called back, only to get the same guy who tells me the thermocouple is available at Lowes. He gives me the part number. I try to explain that just a few days ago he told me he couldn't help me but he hangs up the phone.

I called Lowes and they don't carry this part and have never heard of this part. I'm getting the complete runaround in winter, which they close for 2 weeks over Christmas by the way. So I Google the part number which links me to eBay. I bought it there.

I will never buy another Procom POS again and their customer service sucks.

Purchased heater from another retailer. Written instructions were not clear about mounting clearances. The instructions refer to Figure 3 which points out the parts of the heater but does not provide any clearances. I tried calling the ProCom toll free number but they were closed - they are on east coast time and close at 4:30pm and I am on west coast time. I tried calling the next day but they were closed again, this time for lunch. I tried to call again but the phone system kept hanging up on me. I looked up another number for the company and got hung up on when I tried to dial the company operator. I found a backdoor to the company operator (through the sales extension) and she transferred me to another hang up. I got back to the operator through the back door and she took my name and phone number and said somebody would call me. I am still waiting for the call.

For anyone who bought a procom 20;000 btu "FLOOR" standing space heater last year 2012,

this is a very good unit BUT, if you use the fan and the pilot light goes out a lot and shuts down the heater, here is what to do!.

1'st look at the pilot assy, there is a small shiney AIR SHEILD that should be flush against the sparker/thermocouple assy!.

if not take front cover assy off 4 screws 2 on each side, remove left pilot assy mount screw and air shield straighten air shield and reinstall be careful to seat it in the bracket! if not flush with sparker thermocouple assy tap flush with pin punch. Then take a 6 to
8 inch piece of duct tape and cover the lower portion of the fan inlet grate on back of heater. hope it works for you too, poppajon.

Quality goods, quality service, quality vendor. Would not hesitate to buy here again.

I would have had to spend 7 times as much to replace the old upright in-wall gas heater from 1957 when the house was built. This unit heats my basement perfectly and without any odor.

As an added note: this heater saved my b**t when power to our house got knocked out for 12 days during Hurricane Sandy. This dinky little unit was 20,000 BTU and my entire home central heater is only 35,000 BTU. The central heater was dead (no power for the fan) but I just opened the door to the basement where this unit was installed and cranked it up. It heated our entire 3 bedroom split-level house. Our neighbors on either side went to hotels because their houses were uncomfortably cold.
