5.0 out of 5 stars Still on the original brush!, September 14, 2009
By
M. Shawver (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
When I purchased the Dawn Dish Brush, it was on clearance in the grocery store. I didn't feel I needed a power brush to wash the dishes. This spoke more to my laziness than it did to the condition of my dishes. After all I had long since discovered that rinsing or soaking the dishes immediately after use, saved a lot of scrubbing later. Just how lazy am I?

Well after I started using the power brush for tough clean ups, I found that it soon was the primary method of washing all the dishes. Unlike the bottle brush I have, The Dawn Brush doesn't shed its bristles, and unlike my dish brush, it doesn't gather egg, cheese and other gooey slimy gunk down into the bristles. I believe this is because the brush is spinning and the bristles are stiff and don't bend out of shape. This keeps the food from being worked down into the brush.

The bristles stand up very well, but when I noticed I couldn't find the Power Brush in the super markets, I felt I had better seek out some spare brushes. I found them online but most vendors didn't have them in stock. When I was able to find a vendor with the brushes, with two per package, I bought their last one. But since my original brush has yet to wear out, I set it aside to take to my parents, who I sent a dish brush soon after I got mine. I don't think they use theirs as often as I do mine. I'll purchase some spares when they become available.

Perhaps it's the fact I don't have to get my hands down in the grease, or the fact that the brush lathers up dish soap when applying it to dishes and cutting boards, I much prefer to use the dish brush as opposed to a sponge or ordinary dish brush. The batteries can be reversed to make the brush spin the opposite direction. This keeps left-handers from getting sprayed by the brush, as the brush spins away from the user instead of towards them.

You can't submerge the brush handle, as water can get inside. I got water in the battery compartment once, not from submersion though. The brush started to loose power really quickly. When I opened the battery compartment, water ran out. I pulled the batteries out, wiped the battery compartment out with a paper towel, replaced the batteries with fresh ones, and all was well.

The batteries fade slowly, and the brush becomes ineffective before the batteries finally give out. So at some point you have to say, "Enough!" Just change the batteries, then the brush is back to prime form. Since the original brush is still going strong, I think two replacement brushes will probably last the life of the brush unit sometime well in the future, unless you use the brush without powering the brush, or use with extremely low battery power where the brush stops. I think that would cause the bristles to gunk up.

I have had my brush now for 2 to 3 years, have used it primarily for all dishes for the last 6 months. Instead of thinking of as a needless gadget for the ultra lazy, I notice I never have dishes stacked in the sink as it isn't that dreaded chore to put off until it can no longer be overlooked. It may not be a joy doing dishes, but it's now a bearable task.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, February 27, 2009
This review is from: PROCTER & GAMBLE 44100 Brush Refill Heads (Misc.)
My daughter has bought the dawn power brush some time ago. I found it not only useful in cleaning dishes but also bathrooms, fridges and other tough stain areas. Obviously, I use a separate brush for each area. I have bought this for family members and friends who are also very impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dawn Power Replacement brushes, April 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The website had the replacement brushes for my power brush. When you buy a product at the store, they usually do not have the replacement or accessory items.
The item is excellent. The website was excellent. The delivery was in record time. And, the price was great!
I use this product (2 different brushes) to clean vegetables and to clean dishes and pans. Can't do without it.
Thank you.
