Product Description

K&N Pro Series Oil Filters have been specially designed for professional installers and service providers. Their high flow design can help to improve engine performance by reducing oil filter restriction. Our Pro Series Oil Filters have a fluted canister shape so they can be removed with a traditional oil filter wrench commonly available to commercial installers. These Pro Series oil filters provide outstanding filtration and engine protection throughout their service life. They are engineered to handle all grades of synthetic, conventional and blended motor oils. The pleated media provides high capacity making them suitable for extended oil change intervals when used in accordance with the vehicle and motor oil manufacturers recommendation. K&N Pro Series Oil Filters are available for canister and cartridge type oil filter applications.

I used K&N filters for my previous car, a 2001 BMW 325i, and all was well. However, I now have a 2008 328Xi and my experience with K&N has so-far been negative. When I changed the oil recently and opened up the oil filter enclosure, the old K&N was partially collapsed and there was actually a space in the filter where unfiltered oil could get through. I put in the New K&N I'd just purchased but decided to research a different filter. I found on the BMW user forums that the Mann HU 816X Mann-Filter HU 816 X Metal-Free Oil Filter was people's preferred filter. I ordered one and as soon as it arrived I pulled out the recently installed K&N. The Mann just seems to be a better fit. The K&N's inside diameter did not fit snuggly on the cage/stem that sticks out of the filter housing cover. I'll check the Mann in a few months to see how it held up compared to the K&N.

Seems identical to OEM part. Would definitely buy again. Comes with the o-rings, one of which is for the oil plug. I didn't realize that until I replaced the plug and under carriage cover.

While this was the correct filter for my application...
The filter was a bit longer and was crushed slightly after only a couple of weeks.
K & N was prompt in my response to their headquarters and sent a replacement
but I had to purchase a "Mann" filter to replace the original K&N.
We'll see how it works for the next oil change.

K&N 7014 does not fit correctly to my 2006 BMW 330xi . It is a little taller so it colaps when you tie the oil filter cap . I donot recomend the product to other.

The quality of K&N is better than Mann. Not sure why the negative comments come. I used both, and I thought K&N was better. I saw the comments about K&N crashed, and doubted if that was true, so I bought the two brands at the same time to do a comparison, found no difference in size, but they do have quality difference.

I think both should work fine, but the detail quality, K&N wins.

Looks and fits exactly the same as the OEM fitler. Comes with all the correct o-rings and washer for the oil plug. I trust K&N provides quality products so what more could you ask for? I would definitely recommend it!

I chose it because I have a K&N air filter, so vanity made me get a K&N oil filter as well. But this works as well as OEM oil filter.

Fits BMW 335i but have just installed for first time so will not be able to make a judgement until next oil change.
