I have tried 2 other print servers - one from Linksys and the other from D-Link and they were very unreliable. The D-Link unit needed to be rebooted periodically and finally just died one day. The Linksys unit required constant reboots and the software design they implemented was a mess. Essentially it expected you to physically install the printer on each of your computers (meaning you needed to connect the USB printer to each computer and install the drivers) and then it would insert its own software to act as a virtual printer to redirect your print jobs to the printer. This was very problematic and lead to numerous headaches. Not to mention they do not support Windows 7. And they only supported a specific set of printer models.

After suffering with these probucts for years - I finally decided to get serious and spend the extra money to buy the SEH PS1103 print server. I can not express enough how superior this product is to the other print servers. SEH is a company that really understands the technology of network printing and it shows with their wonderfully simple yet powerful web interface. If you are an experienced network engineer - then you will have this set up in 5 minutes without the need to install any additional software. And if you are a novice - the included SEH print monitor software will walk you through it painlessly very quickly.

And it's rock solid. It just works. I don't even think about it anymore. What a relief to be able to finally enjoy reliable and effortless network printing. The D-Link and Linksys offerings are just hobbled toys in comparison.

The SEH is considerably more expensive than the other print servers on the market but had I known the headaches the cheaper models were going to give me I'd have gladly paid even more for the SEH product.

Cannot recommend this product enough. Good luck in your search.
