Beware, if you buy a used Super Dual box adapter or from other merchants, you may or may not receive it but rather you'll receive the Dilong pu203 version which looks exactly like it. Take note that the Super Dual Box has a red LED (although the old ones don't have any at all) and the Dilong has a blue LED. The Dilong doesn't have a dance pad code, so it won't work with StepMania. So take that in mind when looking for the drivers in google. Other than that, it's a great adapter, it works perfectly. The only reason you would need to download the drivers would be for vibration but if you don't need it, you can just go ahead and plug it to your usb and it will install as a human interface device.

For a Finaly Fantasy XI player who grew up on PS2,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

Now I know a lot of people buy these type of devices for different reasons, and my reason being one that I had never actually heard of. I have been playing Final Fantasy XI Online for quite a few years now, but when I started playing I played via the Playstation 2 so I learned how to play the game via a controller.
Now once my PS2 died after I had bought a new computer I decided to make the jump from playing on the PS2 to playing on the PC.. however I still wanted to play with a controller. Well after several usb pretend PS2 controllers I finally made this purchase and i have not had one regret. I'm running vista and it works without a flaw, and I finally have a D-pad and analog sticks that won't let me down. If you're a fellow Final Fantasy XI player and looking to use a controller on your PC this tool + PS2 controller is the way to go!

The device works great! I recieved mine in black (rather than the transparent blue that may be shown). To use the device with dance pads, you have to hold Start, Select, and Up on the pad for a few seconds when you plug it in each time you use it. This isn't a problem, at all, though! I've used the adapter with dance pads (for StepMania) and a PS2 controller (for a flight sim)...all without any trouble!

This is a great purchase for anybody who plays emulators. Works wonderfully. I haven't encountered a problem with it yet, and I've used to play n64, game boy, and super nintendo games. It's just like I'm playing the actual consoles.

PS2 buttons do not work properly,

The device basically works, but the experience is sub-par.
Many people don't know that the DualShock PS2 buttons are pressure sensitive, which means they sense how hard they are being pressed. This adapter converts that range into a binary "yes/no" press to work better with computers. Unfortunately, it sets the threshold for this very high, probably at the maximum pressure the button reads. This means that if you don't fully depress the button, it doesn't trigger at all, and in order to trigger the button you have to do more than just press it, you have to SMASH it. This takes time, and the effect is to introduce enough latency in the button presses to make games noticeably more difficult to control. Trying to play a Mario game is like playing to play it drunk. Clearly this isn't bothering a lot of people, but if this sounds like it might bother you, I'd save your cash. (Looking at the USB events, it appears to be the hardware itself emitting button events only for hard presses; a software fix on the computer does not appear to be possible. Switching the digital/analog mode does not help.)

Get ready for nostalgia,

This thing works perfectly....couldn't get the rumble feature, but the games that I am using it for (SNES, NES, gameboy types, and N64) never really had rumble support, so I am happy. Best thing is I got it for $5 on Ebay, and it supports 2 players....multiplayer goodness for no more the cost.
I research EVERYTHING to death before I buy it, so don't bother reading anything more about this converter....just take the plunge, you won't regret it. It works with my PSX controller as well...I had read some reviews that said people were having problems

Useless for gamepads (despite being advertised as good for DDR),

This controller does not recognize multiple key presses (e.g. Up+Left), so it's useless for Stepmania / DDR / gamepad games. Looks like older versions did, but not the one I received in Nov 2010. Also, the manufacturer didn't update the packaging, which still claims that it's compatible with DDR.

I bought this on a gamble....The reviews here were all over the place. It appears there are currently three models available.A light blue transparent one,a dark transparent blue one AND a black one. I thought I was going to get the light blue one (since that picture was up there) but I got the dark blue one in the mail instead so I was like w.e as long as it works...package contents: one adapter and one disk.
I have windows vista 32 bit(mentioning this so you know it supports it) Windows 7 is supported too (not sure if it supports both bits or just one since I don't own that system..my bf does but he isn't sure what bit he has...and yes I am a girl...a very girly nerdy girl with a punky edge) Now lets get to business here...It DOES support rumble, you guys just have to know how to calibrate it right, and for all of those people saying that joy2key is needed if your emulators don't support your controllers...you're wrong.you can use it if you wish BUT you can easily configure it manually by going to the options tab or the game tab(depends on the emulator you are using) This adapter works with the popular emus out there.(Sega...(all the series),Arcade(i.e mame or winkawaks),GBA/GBC,N64,NES,SNES I haven't tried any psp emus yet so I can't really write about that. A great rule to follow (in case you're wondering why your controllers aren't being recognized) ALWAYS put in the driver cd first...let it install all the programs then plug in the usb, unless the directions say plug usb first then insert disk (which is rare) Oh and one more thing...analog is supported. One reviewer said to hold the analog sticks for a bit when the computer was registering the controller.I'm not sure if doing this actually has any effect on the installation process but I did it just in case.My adapter works flawlessly.I recommend this! Happy emulating!

Works on a mac/ Works with frets on fire (Guitar Hero),
By

This review is from: PS PS2 USB Dual Controller to PC Adapter Converter (Video Game)
The people here mostly reviewed it for stepmania, a thing I plan on trying it out with soon. I got it first and foremost for frets on fire, a guitar hero clone that has thousands of fan-made songs for it. I have mac osx so was disappointed at all the markings saying it (works only for windows) but I got it anyway.
When I opened it, I was surprised to see the drivers on a floppy! I have a weak old windows comp. and even that doesn't use floppy's anymore. I quickly through it out and searched for a mac drivers alternative. I came across a program called "USBOverdrive" which acts as the ultimate driver for any usb device. I quickly programed my guitar and was soon rocking out on frets on fire. A few things bugged me, just a bit. The swivel stick couldn't be programmed (I'm not sure if it works in frets anyway) and due to the lack of buttons, I couldn't navigate with the guitar controller. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to everyone. I look forward to trying out multiplayer in the near future.

The Ultimate Joypad Adapter,

Let's just admit it: There is no better joypad than the Dualshock/Dualshock2.
This wonderful USB adapter lets you use your Dualshock/Dualshock2 joypad on your PC. Since it's treated as a USB HID (Human Interface Device) it is fully customizable as long as your software supports HIDs. You just can't go wrong, especially for the price. (So far all my games and emulators recognize it. MAME, JNES, SNES, GBA, GENS...) Oh, and since each one of these devices supports 2 joypads, you can easily play 4 player games such as Gauntlet or Mario kart or whatever. If you're wondering if the low price is too good to be true, wonder no more. This thing is worth twice the price. |
