5.0 out of 5 stars Upright is WAY better......., November 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: PS2 Vertical Stand (Toy)
Ok. I do NOT keep my PS2 upright because it "looks better." Whether you choose to dust the console or not, it does have an overheating problem. I had to throw out the last PS2 after 10 months because it wouldn't work anymore. It used to get extremely hot. So I tried this and keeping it upright. No more overheating AT ALL. For the money I spent for the console I can put a few more bucks into something that makes it last longer. It is an easy solution. And it is not as easy to knock over as one would think. I have 3 rambunctious boys (one a climbing toddler),a hyper dog and 3 cats who think the top of the entertainment center is their playground. It has not been knocked over even ONCE yet. Give it a try...

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh,come on!!, May 9, 2003
This review is from: PS2 Vertical Stand (Toy)
To me this gimmick is the equivalent of that little robot that came with the game "Gyromite" for the 8bit nintendo! I mean, what real useful purpose does it serve to own a vertical stand?

You mean to tell me it's just TOOO much of a hassel to lay the ps2 flat on a coffee table in front of the tv or something? And tell me,how does it prevent the ps2 from getting knocked over? Maybe I was just never good at physics, but wouldn't something standing upright have more of a chance of getting knocked over as opposed to something that lays flat??

Also, look at how dvd players and cd players are made;look at the cd rom drive on your computer! How is it aligned? The discs all go in flat! How many people do you know that own a vertical dvd player??

The whole speel about it "helps" to keep your ps2 from overheating is just a big load! All you have to do is dust around the area of your ps2 to keep dust out of the vents. Why would any rational, logical person would want to spend X amount of money for a hunk of plastic? Becuase it makes the ps2 look cooler??Ugh...save your money and buy something like...oh,I don't know.. A GAME?Or maybe a memory card,or the dvd remote or anything else that is actually worthwhile!
