This review is from: PS238 VI Senseless Acts of Tourism (Paperback)
Aaron Williams continues to take his parody of the superhero genre and put his own wonderful twist on it, spinning off original plots and stories that show off his skill as a delightful storyteller. Volume 4 shifts the focus away from the main characters (namely Tyler and Ron) to focus a bit on the supporting cast, allowing Williams to showcase and develop these characters in exciting, entertaining and wonderful ways. Where Moon Shadow and Capt. Clarinet develop slowly through the series, the book picks up the pace in having a character ask who she is, culminating in an amazing and heartwarming Crowning Moment of Awesome as she finally discovers and defines herself. Occasionally returning to the drama brewing between the main character and Williams' overarching theory on superheroes, the book ends with yet another character learning the truth around him and accepting his role in it (yet another Crowning Moment of Awesome). It's moments like those that makes reading comics good and fun again after years of the repetitious storylines, monotonous themes, depressing darkness and grittiness that has come to characterize superhero comics.

What started off as a superhero parody has become a masterpiece of superhero art. This volume is my favorite in the series and I love reading it over and over and over. I highly recommend it with the rest of the PS238 series.
