Alright, some of these reviews are pretty ridiculous. People are reviewing this thing before they even bought it? I just want to say what people want to know. The plastic is actually pretty good quality. The bottom where the plastic touches the ps3 slim body actually is very soft and is somewhat padded leaving out the possibility of scratches. You can buy a generic one off ebay, but most of them do not have the clip that locks the ps3 to the stand which secures the two units together. I personally think the ps3 slim looks so much nicer with the stand and having it stand like a tower. But that's just me. Overall, I give this a 4 star, because even when I got it for 19.99 I personally thought it was expensive. 14.99 seems much more reasonable. I had a gamestop edge card and needed to spend it on something for my new ps3. I think this decision wasn't too bad.

I don't understand how this PS3 stand is getting like 3.5 stars when it is the most stable PS3 stand and looks the best. Lot of these user reviews are loving the PS3 stand but then giving it a low score simply due to the higher price. I was looking around for a PS3 stand and I had a few options. At first, you could put the PS3 slim on the side without any stand but I think that is way too risky to tipping a $300 game system. Forget that! I looked at the very cheap Pega PS3 stand. Great price but it doesn't have the protective foam on the bottom so pega may scratch the PS3. It looks like plastic on plastic. Most importantly, it doesn't have the lock in feature so the PS3 can still easily tip pushing it to the right. I looked at Nyko PS3 stand and noticed that it doesn't match and it has no locking feature either. I saw some other generic PS3 stands with some type of lock in feature on the side and it still didn't lock the PS3 to the stand correctly as the PS3 can tilt out. I researched this and actually saw videos comparing the stands. This Sony PS3 stand is definitely the best as it keeps it the most stable and looks great. You can get this Sony PS3 stand for pretty cheap too as I got it for $10 less than the retail price. You don't have to pay the retail price if you look around at one of the most obvious stores and I'm not talking about B.B. or wallyworld charging full retail price.

First of all lets address the price issue. If you want a $10 cheap stand you can find it easy enough, but after buying the Nyko version of the stand i found out the hard way that quality for this simple accessory matters. Think about it, the stand has to securely place the PS3 in its vertical position and withstand at least some minimum force applied to its sides. The PS3 Slim Vertical Stand i bought first was nicely built and all but the fault is on the lack of lock in mechanism, so that if the PS3 is accidentally pushed by its left side it will come lose and fall off the base in a second so i sent it back. Now i got the Sony Brand and im more than pleased with the high quality all around built and lock in mechanism.
The difference between the Sony brand and other alternatives is around $5 to $7, just pick the right one so that your are all set form the get go.

This is really a good product. It looks cheap in the picture, but it is very nice in real life.
It holds the playstation with ease. You can hold it upside down from the stand and the system won't slip out.
Really basic piece of equiptment, but also very well made.
Suck it up, spend the $20 and buy it. It will hold up longer than the off brand ones, not to mention look better.

I didn't want to spend $20 on a console stand, but I also didn't want to be unhappy with a $12 stand so I bought this official Sony stand. It was a good choice - the lever underneath the stand securely locks the console in place when it is stood up. It doesn't take up much room, and looks good. I have no complaints about this product aside from the price. It's overpriced, but I'd rather pay a little bit too much and get a product that works well.

It might be deserving of 4-stars because of the price, but people need to know which stand works well - so I'll give this 5 stars. It works well and I'm willing to bet it's the best stand available.

Pricing aside, this thing works great. It locks onto the bottom (or side, depending how you look at it) of the PS3 Slim and gives it a very solid base when in vertical position.

Many will say that this is unnecessary, and depending on where you're placing this, they're right. The PS3 will stand in vertical mode by itself.. but it's not the sturdiest thing. A bump to the table or PS3 could easily knock it over, and for that I have to rate this 5-stars. When used with this stand, the PS3 Slim is VERY secure, even trying to shake it to "test" the stand.

There are other, 3rd party, options available but they do not hold the PS3 as secure.

This stand looks good, is slim (some 3rd-party stands have a much larger base) and blends in well with the PS3.

My reason for purchasing this was to save desk-space by having the PS3 stand in vertical position, and for that it worked great. Does it seem like it should cost 20-bucks? Not at all. Do I regret paying 20-bucks for it? No - the fact that it works so well and is the best option out there (despite the 2x price over the other models), I don't regret it at all.

If you're not sure if you need it, first try standing the PS3 in vertical position and see how well it holds in place/how sturdy it is -- from there, if you feel unsure about it, buy the stand. If it seems solid enough for you (without the stand), you're probably better off using no stand than to use one of the lower-priced 3rd-party stands which topple over or release the PS3 easily.

Yes it works with a CECH-3000 Series. That's all I got to say. I did it. It works. Now you know.

I bought this stand over the others simply because it locks the PS3 in place. I have a 2 year old running around and didnt want my PS3 to accidentally get knocked over (and it has to be vertical to fit my entertainment center). It works great it feels extremely stable and is not easily knocked over. You'd pretty much have to try to knock it down to do it. Sure its $20 but it doesnt feel chinsy. Another cool thing is the playstation runs much cooler in the vertical position.

Hey everyone,if you got the PS3 slim this stand is a must,the slim looks great with this stand. I could have went with a cheaper aftermarket one but this one isn't bulky like the others, its really sleek an uniform to the new PS3 slim design,the plastic is of good quality with a high gloss an actually clamps to the bottom of your PS3 slim really cool feature. Also where the PS3 console touch the stand it is very soft padding inside so you wont scratch it. I took off one star for price, I mean it is jus plastic, an a star for the fact I that I believe Sony should have included this in the box, heck Sony can switch out that useless A/V composite cable or switch out the A/V cord for a HDMI cable I mean come on Sony its Twenty 10!.

I mean what do you really expect from a Vertical Stand? People are giving 1 star ratings and such but come on people. The stand matches the New PS3 slim perfectly. Theres grooves in the stand that locks your PS3 in place making it more than stable. The stand does its job PERFECT!!

I bought the stand for $25 and thats to much for a piece of plastic. At, best I say this would make a fine $10 purchase. Standing the PS3 vertically is a preference. I like my PS3 vertical so the price was no problem for me in making up my mind. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. 4 stars because again, its over priced.
