This is a very nice addition to my PS3. I recently bought this to go along with my Harmony 520 remote, which I also recommend. It was available for $20 which is a very reasonable price. It took some playing with to set the OK button to Enter but after I did that it worked seamlessly. The only downer from this is that it does not turn it off but I knew that when I ordered it. When I received the IR it was packaged extremely well, very safe. All and all, this is a great product and would highly recommend.

I have had one of these for over 2 years now and it outlived my ps3! It works perfectly with my harmony one remote as advertised with only the inability to turn off the ps3.
I have a new 120gb ps3 on the way and hopefully it will continue to work.

Just plug it in and either use your old PS2 remote or universal remote using Playstation2 codes. Great way to use your PS3 as a Blue-Ray player in your home theater. No more juggling remotes, only thing it can't do is turn the PS3 on and off but that's the fault of Sony not the adapter. Once installed it blends in perfectly with the front of the PS3. Wish it were cheaper but it works great.

This product was an excellent investment! I can now use my universal remote 100% of the time! Didn't know something like this existed until reading the reviews for another product I bought. It took some tweaking, but I've gotten it to work with my redeye remote and I couldn't be happier.

Don't waste your money on other more expensive solutions. This product works as advertised and is a must for any PS3 owner.

I should do a video review but this is simple. For under $30 with shipping you get a device that lets you use your PS3 as a DVD and Blu-Ray player with any high quality Universal remote. I have one working with a Nevo, and another with a Universal MX-880 with a base station. The PS3 is a little noisy for watching movies, so hiding it in a cabinet using this little gadget is another bonus. This is the only place my X-Box 360 beats my PS-3, the IR receiver is built in.

The only glitch is starting up the PS3 if you turn it on every time. You have to acknowledge one controller before the IR device works sometimes. With this you get a great deal on one of Sony's best Blu-Ray players and a free video game. Doesn't work, simple as that. If you need and infra red adapter for your PS3 keep looking, I can't be bothered myself just yet but this one I purchased a few months ago and it won't turn on or off te PS3.

Perfectly fit my needs. It works perfectly with my URC MX-900 Universal Remote. I used the PS2 codes in the URC IR Database

I got this to use with an infrared remote control device to get the benefit of the blue-ray player in a whole home video distribution network. And for that it works beautifully with the exception that you can't turn it off and on with a power command. You can turn the system off by going through the on screen menus, but you need to physically turn the machine on or use your game controller. Where I am a little annoyed with the adapter is that it takes the slot of the first controller (i.e. when you turn on the PS3 with the power button, you won't be able to use a controller for a game until you unplug the adapter and turn off your controller and turn it back on again to become the first controller.) However, I do now get to play the blue ray movie on any tv in my house, which is cool!
