We loved this microwave at first. Soon after it was installed it started acting strange. We unplugged it and plugged it back in that seemed to resolve the issue. Now at 1.5 years it is completely dead. GE said only 1 year warranty good luck with it.

Will not buy from GE again.

I bought this unit a mainly due to the sleek look, solid construction, and interesting features. It turned out to be by far the most used device in my kitchen. I'll never build or remodel a house without it. On a subsequent property, I installed a Whirlpool Microven, which would get about 3 stars - if the handle hadn't broken off twice.

If you've never used one of these types of units, imagine throwing a frozen steak into the unit, pressing 3 buttons, and coming back in 30 mins with a perfectly cooked steak.

Pros:
+ Very broad list of pre-programmed recipes
+ Great feature that let's you throw in a frozen food, and it will defrost then automatically cook it. Saves a lot of time back-and-forth.
+ Cooks steaks very well...best of these types of ovens.

Cons:
+ None

Bought this microwave from a distributor in my area, and the keypad shorted in a little more than a year. Nice coincidence that the warranty is for a year. GE's response is that I should pay $99 for a guy to show up, and then GE might cover half the cost of parts (but none of labor).

Terrible customer service for a very expensive model. Don't buy from a company that won't back up its products for more than a year.

I purchased this range with the advantum 120 microwave oven. So far both items are wonderful. The selection of cooking options is good. I wanted a second oven for larger family gatherings. The oven part of the unit can do this. It heats a little slow thought. I probably should have gotten the 240 volt model and had the circuitry rewired for the voltage change. Another expense to consider. It will cook a rock hard frozen chicken breast and brown it in about 15 minutes on speed cook. A process of applying three separate cooking techniques at adjoining times. The food is good using this method, surprisingly so. If you can't find the exact recipe then pick something similar. It works.

This is the 3rd over-the-range microwave oven that I have owned -- and the worst. Loved the Kitchen-aide one I bought years ago for my house and I Loved the Whirlpool one I put in my vacation home in the Cayman Islands. The townhouse I bought recently had this one already installed. I have a few complaints. Although it is not that old, the metal part/trim on the bottom of the door has come loose, we push it back in, but the next day, it's loose again. The most frustrating part is when you convection bake which I use a lot). When setting, it asks you the temperature, and how long you want it to cook. If you decide, when that time is up, that you want to cook it another 1/2 hr more, it is extremely difficult to cancel out of it and cook for another 1/2 hour. It continually offers you the "2 minutes more" option, and no matter how many times you hit "CANCEL" it does not want to accept it (occasionally, it will). So if I'm not sure how long something will take, if I don't remember to add another 1/2 hr to what I think, I have the same programming problem -- can't extend cooking time. The only way around this is to reset it as if you are starting over -- but this time you have to change the oven temperature. For example, if you cooked at 375 before, now you set it for 380 -- then you can set it for 1/2 hr of cooking time. I also find it doesn't cook evenly in the convection mode -- half way through baking, you have to turn it 180 degrees or one side will be burnt. Better still, turn it 90 degrees, then 90 degrees etc.

Absolutely, positively do not order this item from Amazon. I never thought I would write those words as a loyal Amazon Prime member.
This by far has been a terrible experience, the unit comes completely damaged and I am convinced these have been sent back and just fulfilled again for someone else's order.
Here's the story: We ordered one and it was delivered next day. Box had some wear but nothing alarming. Our contractor opened this up and it was COMPLETELY destroyed so we had to pack it up and have it picked up to ship back. In the meantime I ordered another thinking surely it was just damaged in shipping with the first. WRONG! The second one came next day, box looked good and once opened the back of it was so heavily damaged we are now convinced it could not have done it in shipping. We believe people order them, they are fine, go to install and have issues and they are dropped or damaged at that time. These things are heavy and there is no way the damage done could have been from the UPS guy dropping the box, they were clearly out of the box. We are also convinced that once returned they just get sent to the next person. We ended up going to the local appliance store and paying a little more for it.

This is also in the product description and completely FALSE (we found both our on the front porch):
