FOUND THIS CHUCK SYSTEM TO BE ALL THE CHUCKS I NEED TO TURN SMALL ITEMS UPTO 4 INCHES, ADD THE FLAT JAW AND HAVE ALL THE CHUCKS YOU WILL NEED FOR A MINI OR MIDI LATHE. GOOD PRODUCT AND EASY TO USE.

I am fairly new to wood-turning. And until I got the Barracuda system I had been using screws and face-plates to mount my work on the lathe to turn it. There was more time and hassle involved doing it that way as I discovered once I got the Barracuda system!
It has cut my turning time in at least a third! I consider that to be a lot of saved time. I want to be turning wood and producing artwork at a rate that is productive from a selling standpoint, and still produce a great piece. This system has allowed me to do that!
*Note: I am new to wood-turning, BUT, I am not new to lathes and chuck systems! 23 years in metal industry*
With the above stated line, I wanted to say how impressed I was with the quality of the actual chuck that holds the MANY jaws that go on it. It is not a low-end chuck that you have to worry about falling apart or jamming on you from repeated use. The tools that come with it are sufficient to tighten the work on the chuck. The tightening tools have not bent on me either. The entire system seems to have been built with the best quality in mind.
Another thing I noticed right away upon opening the kit, was that there were slots in the kit carrying case that were empty! No, nothing was missing form the kit, the company just made a very smart move in my opinion, by providing more slots for others jaws and accessories that you can buy for the system so that as/if you expand the system you have a place for the new accessories!
After getting the system and using it (I have had it for about 2 months now) extensively, I cannot understand how they can sell it at the price it is! It is what I consider to be a steal! So, if you are looking for a great chuck system at an even greater value, this is it!

Bought these to use on my Jet mini lathe. Works great I've used it several times to make thimbles. The quality appears to be very good

I was looking for a cheap but well made chuck after my last one exploded on me. I settled on the PSI CSC2000C after reading all the other fine reviews on Amazon.

I was wary about the bar mechanism, but now that I've tried it out I wouldn't trade it for anything.

The chuck is much heavier than it looks in pictures. Very nice.

To be clear, the chuck itself is 1x8 tpi.

Great chuck for the value! I use it on a Wilton Mini-lathe and have not had a problem. Nothing has ever come loose! All around a great value for the money!

This thing works like a charm for me. You can't beat the price with a stick. Good quality and good range of jaws are included.

I have four chucks that I use steady, one Nova and three Barracudas I prefer the Barracuas and prefer those with the bars over the key adjustment.

This product is great! It works the same or better than similar products. The quality is really impressive! I'm really happy with it!

I've owned my 9" dunlop wood lathe for as long as I can remember. Having turned bowls, candle sticks, lamps etc. Using the Barracuda Chuck System, I've graduated to the world of today in lathe use (short of an NC wood lathe).
I highly reccommend it for any one interested in improving his or her lathe expertise. It alleviates the time spent crosscutting the piece for use in the attachment to the drive spindle of the lathe and allows for a safer grasp on any operation not using the tail stock

The chuck is definately an improvement from my earlier PSI CUG3418 (no "C"). I still use it and wanted to have the second chuck to attach onto the tail stock while turning bowls. This new chuck is lighter and turns smoother when chucking the wood. It also came with one more jaw than the original 3418 which lends to flexibility of multiple projects. I have found the PSI tools to be a worthy value.
