I have a 600 CFM vacuum (JET), a garbage can separator, and then 50' of this. I move it from router to planer to jointer. It works very well. My only caution is : Open it in a well ventelated area - the plastic odor from mine was VERY strong for about 48 hours. (Now there is no odor.)
Update: 11 months later: After frequent "hobby" level use all year, I'm still very pleased with this product. It shows no sign of collapse or holes from being dragged around my garage shop. Update: March 2007 - 3 years later: Still going strong! Update: July 2008 - 4 years and counting - still working great after being dragged around for countless hours.

Worth the Price,

I had a choice in hose selection when planning out my DC system. I figured I needed about 50 feet in connection my 6 pieces of equipment. I could either purchase this hose or 5 ten foot lengths of the "other" black hose. I bought this 50 foot hose and one ten foot section for comparision. I'm glad I got this hose.Granted, the 50 foot hose is not as thick, but it is thick enough and sturdy enough for all my applications. It is much easier to work with, more flexible. For the price, this hose is the way to go. Even in cutting the hose, I had to poke a hole thru the hose with a pointed pair of scissors. The semi-blunted end of the wire cutters would not poke a hole in the hose!! The ten foot hose has to be cut in the exact length needed, it will not collapse if cut too long. If cut too short...... The 50 foot hose will collapse, and if you have a machine on coasters, then when properly planned, will expand when the machine is used. The 50 foot hose arrives in a box that is only about 4 feet long, the ten foot hose arrived in a box much larger and is not compacted (it can't be). This hose gives more options, the only negative thing in comparsion to the 10 foot hose is, it is not as rigid, or stiff. Which can be a positive thing.

Even after reading the reviews, I thought it would be worth a shot to buy 50' of hose for an incredible price. It arrived in a rather small box for a 50' hose, so I had my doubts as to the likeliness of it serving my shop. After taking it out of the box it reminded me of a Slinky with a thin plastic membrane. Remarkably the hose did extend to 50'!My application was primarily to connect my floor sweep and move it about the shop during cleanup. Unfortunately when the hose is connected to a dust collector (mine is a 2hp model) the hose will constrict (like an accordion) and collapses back to about four feet. Next, I tried to use it with some of my connections, but the same problem prevented the hose from being practical. Lastly - I decided to use the hose as an exhaust for moving air through the finishing area. Works fine for this application. I would highly recommend using the Jet hose or solid tubing for a DC connection. This was not a wise investment however it was also not too costly.

There is a reason this hose is inexpensive - it's cheaply made and not very good dust collection hose. As a matter of fact its pretty much just dryer hose in black plastic. I'm not returning mine because I should have known better, but I'm pretty disappointed.

I have used this hose exclusively to run dust collection in my home shop and prefer it to any others I have seen. It's lightness and flexibility make it easy to handle and it is easy to add blast gates, "Y's" & "T's" as neccessary. That being said, were I equipping a professional shop, I would probably err on the side of longevity and go with the heavy plastic or even metal to resist injury and what might end up hurtling through the collection system. I would make the same decision again and am reordering more of this hose at this time. If durability were the only factor, we would all wear army boots and the sales of sandals and sneakers would be nil. Comfort and ease of use are the guidelines here. Highly Recommend!

I was leary of the price, but the hose works fine. It is not as nice as the hard plastic but not nearly as pricy either. I have my Sl Comp Mitre and my table saw hooked up. Works fine.

Poor Dust Hose,

This item is the worst mail order item I have ever recieved. Both the picture and the Edititorial Review are very misleading. You need to be careful when you remove it from the box as even the slightest catch will tear the thin membrane. If not for the dire need I have I would return it. As it is I plan on throwing it out as soon as a real dust collection hose arives from Trend-Lines.

Best small shop dust hose,

As a new woodworker, I recently installed a dust collector system. PVC pipe runs under the workbench to a tee with two slide gates. One leg goes to the table saw using the hard flexible pipe and pvc connections. The other leg goes to a cyclone lid on a metal can. PSI Flexible hose from the metal can is connected to the jointer or the planer. So I have used every type of piping except metal. Here are some observations:
The 50ft of flexible piping is the most useful of all. It is plenty strong and is tear resistant. It is quite suitable for horizontal runs and for moving between machines. There is no problem with it tearing accidentally. It is not suitable for elevated horizontal runs (too flexible) and will be crushed if one steps on it. So avoid putting it in walkways. A great use is for expansion joints and short connections. PVC pipe will not connect to the hard flexible pipe. No possible way. But a 9" piece of PSI flex duct can be made to connect to pvc pipe, pvc elbows, hard flex pipe connectors, etc. Also 50 ft is way too much. I only used about 20 ft total. Handling 50 ft is likely trying to handle a 50 ft slinky. The 10 ft long hard flexible duct is basically worthless stuff. Why would any use it instead of 4" S&D pvc is beyond me. I connected a piece to the table saw only because I had it. And I bought it because "all woodworkers use this stuff, right?". Bah, save your money. Buy PSI flex duct and PVC pipe.

Flex Hose bargain,

I was rather hesitant about purchasing this product based on a negative review I read - but I took the gamble and was happy I did. I have the stiff stuff already and was real tired of dealing with it. This hose is a heavier grade dryer hose that is not only easy to use but appears to be a lot more rugged than than it looks. I have replaced all my semi rigid plastic flex hose with this product and it works great, fits in places the other stuff won't and hasn't sprung a leak nor torn yet - even with all the dragging around I do with it to sweep up my shop. For the price you can't go wrong.

I love this hose. It is easy to work with, super flexible, and when you are using the collection system, it collapses to take up the slack in the system. I have 100' of this in my collections system. Some of it I have in long extra lengths so I can move the tools around for larger cuts. This stuff collapses right up on itself in the parts I am not using, its kind of neat to see it all raise up and get out of the way on the parts I am not using. Easy to work with, I have 4" pipe holders attaching it to the wall in several places and it is definitely tough enough for years of use. the wire is strong and keeps the shape up well. IT is neat to see 50' of hose ship in a 4' box - THE hose to use in your collection needs.
