Charging Dock,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PSP 2000 Charging Dock & TV Link (Accessory)
The PSP dock somewhat accomplishes the purpose of looking better while charing than just plugging your PSP to the charger cable and leaving it resting on a desk. You will get a more organized desk or shelf from this.
But, when you plug the dock to the power cable (with or without the PSP docked), an internal blue light shines trough the plastic. This light, as described before, it's very bright (and very blue), so it's an annoyance. You can't leave the Dock connected all the time when you are not charging the PSP, since the dock is always shining. The light is so bright that it can illuminate the whole room blue. A better solution would be to just have one little blue LED that turns on when you dock your PSP, but that's not the case. I'm considering painting black the whole thing, to make it usable, instead of trowing it away. Besides that, it charges the PSP as advertised. It doesn't comes with a power cable, so you have to plug the one that came with your PSP to it. So, it only is a piece of plastic to hold your PSP up while it charges. The product is described as having a TV out connector. My initial impression was that it had a regular composite (RCA) or component connectors, so you could use any regular cables to plug your PSP to the TV. Well, that's not the case; the dock has the same special (proprietary?) connection that is on the bottom of your PSP, so you still have to buy the special $30+ cable from SONY to plug your PSP to the TV. Another reviewer mentioned that you can't charge the PSP if you have the bigger battery. I don't own that battery, but that sounds inconvenient. In conclusion: bring your own power cable + SONY TV out cable + annoying blue light all the time. It's not that useful.

Ok for Charging, but Bad on Audio Quality,

I got this dock because I thought it would be nice to put my PSP safely in a cradle while it's charging, and also use it to play video and music into a receiver. Well, it does its job of cradling my PSP while charging, but the audio is plagued with noise and interference from the power source. Note that there is no audio problems when I plug my PSP directly into its power source. The problem only occurs when I go through the dock. I haven't tried the Video yet because I am waiting for the component video cables that I ordered to arrive. I will update this review with comment about the video after I have a chance to try it out.
I returned the first unit as defective, and thanks to Amazon's excellent service, got a new one a couple of days later. Well, the new one has the same problem. It seems the the audio quality is affected by the power source because of bad design and or defective manufacturing of the unit's PCB. I took it apart and with a little de-soldering and re-soldering, was able to bypass the PCB and wired the power source directly to the PSP. This eliminated the audio noise/interference and the cool, but way to bright blue LED. Oh well, I didn't really miss the superfluous blue light anyway; and ended up with something that works as it should. So, if you are not willing to do some hacking to the unit, and are buying it for the audio output while docking, then be forewarned. I gave it a low rating because the unit just didn't function like it should without me voiding the warranty and spending extra effort getting it to function like it was intended. Otherwise, it would have gotten at least 4 stars for form, function and value. If you just want a cradle to charge your PSP in, then it works; but because of the audio interference problem, I don't know about the long term effect it may have on your PSP. The only reason that I am using it because I know that the power source is going directly to my PSP and is not contaminated by the PCB's bad design/manufacturing. Because if it's making the audio bad, then who knows what else it is doing to the rest of the PSP's internals.

This dock is alright. What I didn't know is that it lights up blue when plugged in. It's pretty bright, I'll add pics soon.
Otherwise it works. It charges my PSP and looks cool. I haven't used the video and audio out.
