Can't go the distance...,

I bought this in hopes of sustaining my PSP's life but in the end the threads of the screws ended up stripping. Also, if you happen to screw in the screws too far you can't open the hatch to eject/insert an new UMD. Therefore, you have to back out the screw to the very minimum which leads to excess pressure on the first couple of threads and increases your chances of being stripped.

While I like the slim profile provided by the face armor, this thing is poorly designed. It pivots on square plastic pegs and shatters after you flip it out a few times. Mine took less than a month to break.

This covers the screen of the psp so it does not get scratched or punctured. For me, this did not jam the UMD drive! It took about ten seconds to put on the psp. Very efficient and worth the money. I just flap it over and pop it in the safe sleeve[that came with the psp]. Do that, and it's as snug as a bug in a rug[lol].

Face Armor damaged my UMD drive,

In the process of attaching the Face Armor to my UMD drive I damaged the UMD drive. The drive didn't stop working right away, but did so a few days later.

The screws on top were no trouble to screw in. tight as can be, they do not prevent my UMD door from opening/closing, so they may have fixed this issue. The cover works excellent as a front flap... start your MP3s, turn off the screen, put it on hold, slam the cover down and you can throw the sucker in your backpack and comfortably listen to music without worrying about scratching the face. Well worth the 11 bucks.
The UMD disc jackets DO Scratch your games, but im pretty sure the PSP only reads the part that is left uncovered, so scratching the rest of the clear plastic on the UMD itself shouldnt impact gameplay, just looks. Some of the jackets fit perfect without scratching, the ones that do you can tell its the two nubs that hold the game in place. just put pressure down on those individually and bend them so they wont scratch the plastic covers of your discs, if that is a concern. I think this set is WELL worth it because it allows you to throw both the PSP itself AND its games in any of your pockets without worrying about scratching either.

Waste of Money,
This review is from: PSP Face Armor/Disk Jackets (Video Game)
The PSP's screen is a beautiful thing. A beautiful thing that attracts dust and scratches like nothing else in creation. As such when I purchased mine and saw Pelican's Face Armor sitting right next to it, I thought 'This things perfect'. I picked it up, and promptly attached it view the two mounting screws to the top of my PSP. 4 hours later, after opening and closing the unit several times to show off my new purchase the screws loosened, and the Face Armor fell off. I tried to reattach it, but the screws were stripped. I figured, maybe its a freak thing, so I returned the Face Armor and got a new one. I'm now on my third one. All have suffered the same problems. They work fine for a few hours, or a day or more (depending on how much you open and close the unit), but eventually the screws (specifically the left one if you're looking at the top of the unit) strip, rendering the thing useless. I'm also not the only one in my area who has had this problem. Several of my friends have experienced the same thing.
The Face Armor is a good idea, a really good idea, but Pelican's implementation simply doesn't work. Even the inclussion of the Disk Jackets (which do work well) doesn't make it worth the price. I hope someone (perhaps Sony) comes across with a unit that stays firmly attached to the PSP, and doesn't end broken a few days after you purchase it.

Protects Screen Quite Nicely,

If you've used your PSP for any length of time, you know how dangerous it is to have that screen anywhere it can be scratched. The face armor helps to keep it shielded.
Yes, there are things you can slide your PSP in when you're done using it, but I have to be honest, I rarely do that. Then I toss the PSP into a backpack or other bag, and it risks getting scratched up. Since the Pelican face armor actually attaches TO the PSP, it's very easy. I screwed mine in without any problem at all. You flip it up and use the game system. When you're done, you just flip the shield down and it's well protected. There's even a middle setting you can open the armor to, to keep a glare off the screen. I'm not sure there's really any down side to using this. It doesn't interfere with your button pressing. It's very light. It's removeable if you really want to take it off for some reason. In addition, the Pelican set comes with 4 disc jackets. The PSP discs have an open window on them that you want to keep free of dirt and dust. Carrying them around in their original box takes up a lot of space. With the disc jackets, they're easy to toss in a pocket without worrying about them being damaged. Well recommended if you have a PSP!

Face armor/disk jackets,

Reviewing this item, it's the best that I've seen yet. The face armor is extremely easy to install. It screws in on the top. I screwed the armor on my PSP for the first time and no problem. If you read anything about the armor damaging the PSP, it may be because of the fact that the armor was defective in some way. An important note on the disk jackets. These are clear pieces of plasic, not glossy in any way. The inside of the armor has a piece of thin rubber on the inside. You really can't go wrong with this. Well worth the money.

Plastic swing arm breaks,

I though this would be a good item based on the reviews. Within the first 3 days of getting my Pelican and installing it, it broke. I bought another one and was very careful thinking maybe screwed it on too tight. It broke again in the same place. It appears that the slot where the swing slot goes is plastic. As you lift it up, you can see where it will break. I play my PSP everyday. If you do too, don't buy the Pelican.
