Terrible,

While the headphones themselves are decent, the remote part of this product is completely unusable. If you listen carefully, you'll hear a soft bzz...bzz...bzz... continuously in the background whenever the remote is plugged into your PSP. I've tried multiple headphones plugged straight into the PSP and have not had this problem. I've also tried plugging different sets of headphones into this remote (the headphones that come with this are detachable, so any set of headphones can be used with the remote section), and no matter which pair I use, I hear the buzzing noise.
I know this problem isn't unique to me either. I've come across posts on various online forums where other users have this problem too. I love my new PSP-2000, but Sony really screwed up with this headphone/remote control set. There really is no reason to buy this product. Just spend your money on a nice set of headphones and hope that Sony releases a fixed remote control.

Great remote - perhaps I got a revised version?,

Like many recent reviewers, I also have had ZERO problems with this remote. It may be likely that Sony revised later batches, because even using my super-clear ZAGG z.bud earphones everything sounds exactly the way it does as if I just plugged the headphones in.
Aside from that, the remote itself is great. The clip itself could grip a bit more, but I consider it more than fine if you're stationary. The fast forward and reverse buttons are a tad small, and I wish they had more of a texture so that I could just feel them without looking down. Still, I got used to it quickly! The earphone port is open, so you don't have to use the stock Sony earphones that come with the set. The remote also comes with a Hold switch just like the PSP. Redundant, you may say. Not so! You can put your PSP system in Hold mode so that only the remote itself is active. This is great for when you have your PSP in a pocket. The extra length added to your earphones might be a tad more than you want, but it's not unmanageable. If anything, the extra length is made from very smooth, sturdy wrapped plastic, so it won't tangle on itself. Overall, I really like this remote. It's not necessarily a must-have accessory, but for travelers who want to travel lean and make their PSP their one electronic entertainment device, this certainly makes for a fine companion to the system.

Despite complains about this product i placed my order by taking a chance,, Actually there's nothing to complain about this because mine doesnot make the buzz--buzz sound,, it works perfectly,, also it came in a different packaging. Its different from what you see in the product images. I think Sony has released a rectified version of the previous faulty earphones. Overall i'm satisfied with this to the MAX,,,

Like the previous poster mentioned, these headphones make a repeating, faint, buzzing sound in the background when you have the remote control function plugged in. If you take this out and plug directly into the PSP, the sound is gone.
This is a problem that has been reported by many users. Avoid until Sony gets their act together and fixes this!

Very nice headphones. Remote does every thing advertised as well some additional stuff like hissing sound when there is no music playing. It is hard to believe Sony QA missed such a big thing. There is no other way to connect a headset... so we just have to live with the hissing and clicking sounds.
You need the remote and you can use iPhone headset or other similar headsets for Skype.

These headphones work okay at home or a quiet place, but in the car or on a plane you can't turn the volume up enough to hear the game or movie.

If you play music on your PSP, these are definitely a must have. I can also confirm that there is NO buzzing like earlier reviews from a year ago say. This is great, you can put your PSP on hold so none of the PSP buttons work and turn off the screen, then you can control your volume and music selections without even touching your PSP. They stay in your ear pretty well, have a nice length of cord to them, and the remote has a little clip on it so you can clip it to your clothing. I've used it for about an hour now and I already love it! If anything, buy it for the remote part and you can still use your regular headphones, even though the total length will be pretty long. Also, I haven't seen this said in other reviews but these headphones (I can't remember the exact term for this but...)have the feature where the wire to the right earbud is longer then the left so it looks exactly like a "u". It doesn't use the classic "V" shape.
Edit: Like I said before, the remote is great, but after using the earbuds, they absolutely suck. At least for me they hurt my ears after a while and the sound quality isn't that great. I plugged some good quality Apple Ipod earbuds in and it was so much nicer. A major difference I heard though was that the Ipod earbuds are a lot quieter plugged both into the remote or the PSP itself. It's like the buds that came with the remote were amplifying the noise and in effect also distorting it. The quietness can be blamed on the PSP and not the remote. For me in a somewhat quiet room, the max volume level was alright on the Apple buds but if you want to do some serious rocking out or you're in a noisy room it may be a problem. At that point your only choice is to complain to Sony about the audio output on the PSP being to quiet. In summary buy these for the remote, and use a different pair of buds. You may have more wires but it isn't to hard to manage them all. If I could I would demote this to 4 stars.

I bought these a year ago and it sounded great and it worked great. Soon after two months of using them, it didn't work. At first, I thought there was a problem with my PSP, so I tried it on my other one, it didn't work at all. Turns out, the earphones were messed up and would only work if I plugged it in right or turn it until I get sound. This is, to me, a horrible product and I would NOT recommend it.

I haven't had any problems at all with these headphones and my psp 3000. I walk around frequently for up to an hour at a time listening to tunes and as long as you string the cable through your shirt or coat accordingly there is no snag. It takes a little while getting used to the ear buds if you're used to regular headphones but the transition period is short. At first you feel like the buds will fall out but they usually don't and a good thing is you can also hear what's going on around you which is good for conversation etc. The remote volume control works great too ! This has been a very useful product for me.
