This is a good product that does what it is supposed to do. The price is reasonable. It is very reliable as a headset for playing games or to use with the Skype feature on your PSP2000(Slim) system. Highly recommended.
If you travel abroad or use skpye on a regular this is great. work flawlessly in my house. As headphones they leave a little something to be desired. The design is not great. All calls are clear just like on the computer and talking to friends they all said the call quality was good.
Just picked up the skype compatible headphones for PSP for a long trip to Europe. The sound quality seems very good on initial tests from my house. Only problem I have is with the headphone design. Not a big fan of the wrap around the ear and placing one of the cables behind your head to place the other ear piece on. Nice that they seem snug to the ear but not a necessary design for something where you will not be moving around a lot when talking tied to a wifi connection.
If you would like to use skype on your psp then this is the way to go for the cost but just be aware that the overall design of the headphones is just ok.
I picked this headset up so that I could participate in voice chat in Resistance: Retribution multi-player mode. I can't comment on the voice quality yet but I can tell you that I barely even feel like trying it anymore due to the terrible design of this headset.
First, the remote part of the headset feels like it should be facing the other way, that is, if you're standing or sitting and you grab the remote it will wind up facing upside-down in your hand. It also is kind of tricky to grab onto because of the orientation of the remote and the position in which it plugs into the PSP itself; feels like it will slip away from your hand when you go to grab it. The headphones part is by far the worst, however. You clip on the left ear and then a cord attaches to the right earpiece that you have to wrap around the back of your head. Before you know it you are covered in wires. The cord is way too long for regular casual use and the application of the earpieces are even somewhat unintuitive. If I would have known the trouble I was getting into before I bought this headset I would have saved myself the grief and just dealt without using voice chat in the game.
I will be looking for something much easier to use in the meanwhile, hopefully there is something out there for me.
Call quality on Skype seems to be working well with the headphones. If you have gotten accustomed to ear-bud style headphones, then these are a change, but the microphone is very unobtrusive and can be moved out of the way or shaped to conform to your head very well.
Instead of constantly switching between these and my regular PSP headphones depending on if I am using Skype or playing a game/using media, I have chosen to use these all of the time.
The only real problem is that the outside volume of this unit is higher than the ear-buds, so you may want to keep the volume down a bit.
Got it from a local store, for the sole purpose of using skype, but found out that were the best headphones i have ever used.
I cant stand ear buds, and have tried different over the head and wrap around and in every case get tired after a while, with these I pretty much don't feel any discomfort at all, they are lightweight and have an excellent sound, so now I use them for all my needs on the PSP, a Must have if you own a PSP.
I have tried to buy two of these from separate sources, and they came in completely different packaging brand new. Even so, they both had the same issue of the audio cutting out periodically when the cords are moving around, such as if you're wearing them while walking around, as people tend to do with headphones. I'm pretty sure the issue is how they're built and how they're stored in packaging. The cords are super-thin and easily breakable. The cords are then folded at many hard angles inside of the packaging, doubtlessly wearing down the copper wiring inside over the years, meaning that there probably isn't an unopened one of these anywhere that is fully functional. Not to mention they could break pretty easily from getting caught on something or just over time. It's a shame, because they are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. The spring-loaded ear clip holds firm, yet gentle, like a good husband. They come with a built-in microphone, meaning they work for phones. I've seen that Sony still makes (or recently made) headphones identical to these, but they didn't have a microphone. The microphone is the most important part! That and the comfort. Most phone headsets are ear buds, which are crab. Or worse, ear clips that are also ear buds. What is even the point of that? These headphones are much too unique but I suppose they are now a relic of the past.
