5.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the other poster
I bought it at Target, it came with two unbent screen protectors, an applicator card (to smooth out bubbles) and a polishing cloth. After polishing the screen, the screen protector film went on easily. In less than 2 minutes, I had a scratchproof clear screen. Great product!

Apparently there is more than one version of this product out on shelves--one with and one without glare protection. Whether or not one is an upgrade to the other, I'm not sure. The only way you can tell what you're buying is by looking at the features list in the back of the package, and seeing whether glare protection is listed or not.

I first bought the one without glare protection at Best Buy a few weeks back. I messed up on the application process, so I got a bit of dust stuck inbetween the screen and the film. Nothing big enough to hinder gameplay, but I told myself I'd pick up another one in the future to put on correctly. I had no problem with air bubbles, and the screen looked as clear with the film as without it. I was impressed with the product, really.

Fast-forward to today, when I pick up another screen guard at Best Buy... and the first thing I find is that instead of a clear film, I have one with a dull, hazy finish. No big deal, I guess. So I apply it on, and... ugh, what garbage. When I turn on the system, there's suddenly a rainbow-colored mesh pattern covering the screen, and everything looks squarish and pixellated. I applied a little pressure to see if I could iron the mesh pattern out, and even tried reapplying the film, to no avail. No more than a minute after, the thing was in the garbage.

So buyer beware. I've read that Hori screen protectors are nice, but I'm not too thrilled about the glare protection on them, whether they work correctly or not; I prefer clear and shiny screens. I'll be doing some research online, and if I can't find anything, I'll run around town to find a Pelican screen guard without the glare support.

Rating for the Pelican product with glare protection: 0/5. The one without glare protection: 5/5.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware linty homes. I know it works. I saw it work., May 3, 2005

I just got so frustrated with this POS I just twisted the films into thin string and threw them away (no way I can get my money back now) because I just could not get rid of the damned lint!!! This thing attracts lint like you wouldn't believe!! BOTH FILMS!!! I'm ordering somemore because I'm a glutton for punishment. Next time I'm applying the film outside under a plastic tarp! I just have to give it 1 star because this stuff is impossible if you live in a linty home and if you shed skin and invisible body hair (which includes all humans).

If other products are like this, then these things suck and there's no way for them to get better since they rely on static electricity. GDI!!!

I just couldn't believe it. What an instant waste of $10 I could have spent on food or something.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, July 29, 2005

This little shindizzle is a peice of (insert something bad here). After opening it I was pleased with myself for finding a screen protecter from a company that I knew and liked. But after 15 minutes of trying to get the wrong peice onto the PSP, i realized my mistake. Then I realized I had gotten little hairs allover it. So there went my first 5 bucks. Then I opened the other one. Got that one on in 5 minutes, then took 10 trying to get the bubbles out. So finally it was on.

Then I played with it. And it's mask of evil was discovered. In darker situations, like in a cave or just a darker game, it's fine. But the moment you hit more brightly coloured areas, it makes the PSP all pixily and icky. I DID NOT PAY $250 FOR A PIXILATED SCREEN. So I threw out that one too. There went my other 5 bucks. the tax could cover the little cloth. The one star I gave this is for the cloth, I lost my other one.

The psp is a great system, and you certainly wouldnt want to damage the screen or thats the end of it... But you won't be protecting it with this garbage. My protectors didn't even make it out of the box... A security device (glued on with krazy glue or something to its stickiness) it slightly bent it. I thought one little dent in the film wouldnt be that bad. Hah, sorry, wrong, close but no cigar! Not only where the dent was, there were tons of air bubbles, and as the directions said use the "smart card" gently to rid of the air bubbles. I thought it was a soggy piece of toilet paper. It practicly bent when it touched the screen. On top of all this chaos you can barely see the game... It turns it to a greyish color and the outlines of what your playing are all you can see. In the end, the stupid films didnt last a minute (seriously) on my psp, I returned them for my 9 bucks back. Don't buy it unless you like continually driving to walmart and back.

(all of this is on top of your 1/32 of an inch of protection, anything could easily go through it)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Protection / Hard to Apply, November 12, 2006

So I picked this thing up at target (came with 2 films and a cloth).

I cleaned my PSP and followed the instructions. I had a bubble or two. So I had to peel it back and get the air bubbles out. Made one of the corners a little wonky, but it works as promised. I can't notice any weird distortions or prism effects. Just look for bubbles before you go pressing it down and securing it to the PSP. The film is rather thick, so you wont have too many bubbles (i had 2). Just peel back and smooth it out with the little card that came with it.

At the end of the day, it's a screen protector for 8 bucks -- and it does a good job. You should still buy a hard shell case for your PSP too!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Product Ever, December 11, 2005

This is the worst product ever. It screws up the screen and has lots of bubbles. The instuctions are vague and useless. I just bought it, tried it, and ripped it up. Save your money on food. The only good that comes out of this product is the cloth. I would recommend the HORI screen protector for PSP. It has great reviews and doesn't trap dust. I am upset Pelican, normally your products are worthwhile but you definitly screwed up with this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money, July 24, 2005

Don't waste your money here folks. This screen protector is a sheet of plastic, not a film as many reviewers say. I think it is Intec that makes the film protector. However, this protector has a film on top of it to protect the protector. The protector for the PSP's screen has abotu 1/16" of adhesive around the edge, eliminating the possibility of pesky air bubbles. This adhesive sucks. Not only is the adhesive no longer sticky around 1/4 of the thing, but after about a day, it left a sticky mess around the screen and the protector slides when I put the PSP away in its case. It already has some scratches on it. It does, however, let the graphics shine through, I see no different with or without the protector on. Personally, if you don't mind the stickiness, the sliding around, the cost, or if you don't have even so much as the slightest form of OCD when it comes to a $250+ piece of equipment, then get it. Otherwise, save your money.

*Edit* My bad, I went to Walmart to double check on these. Yea, they ARE film, sorry. I got my first screen protector in a kit from this same company. I found an open pack for $2, so I bought it soley for the film. I put it on, I like it more than the one I described above. The trick is to polish/clean the surface of both the PSP and the film before you take off the back, use a canister air duster to blow all the dust off of both, slowly peel and squeegee the protector on, pushing the air bubbles out as you apply the protector as opposed to trying to get the air bubbles out AFTER it is completely on. It doesn't affect my graphics, my only complaint is that I can see how this can get someone aggravated, it was hard to get on flawlessly, I've had experience with things like this before (the backgrounds of my aquariums are made of the same stuff, just colored) but it still took me several tries to get it right, but by that point static brought dust under the protector so there are lots of air bubbles in my one corner.

Wow, an absolute waste of $10! I for one did not have lint problems, but you certainly have to be careful when applying it if you don't want any lint to get caught under the screen guard.

My biggest problem is what someone else said about how the guard distorts the LCD. I think it has an anti-glare coating, but it makes everything on the LCD look blurry and you get a "rainbow" effect which produces colors on the screen that aren't there.

Sure it prevents scratches, but I think having one or two scratches on a clear LCD is better than having zero scratches on what is now a blurry piece of junk. I hope this thing isn't too hard to remove...

This screen protector works great! People complain that you need to keep it free of dust. This is true. You need to clean the screen really good. All you need to do is use the provided cleaning cloth and maybe even get a can of compressed air to blow off any remaining dust. Than follow the directions on the box EXACTALLY as it tells you. I had no problems with it at all. If you are a teenager and are having trouble just ask your parents for help. Once applied you could not ask for anything better. It will save your PSP from any scratches and keep the screen free from fingerprints. The screen quality does not change with the exception of maybe being a little darker. It is really not noticeable though. It greatly reduces glare and that is a major bonus. All in all a great purchace. I highly recommend buying one. I hope you all enjoy it's added protection as much as I do.
