A cheap, usable leather case,
By David (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: PSP Soft Genuine Leather Case (Electronics)
I got this case for my PSP because I wanted something different from most of the PSP cases you see, not to mention that it's dirt cheap. Some thoughts and observations:
- This may be a dealbreaker for some: On the top flap of the case, it says "P.SP", with the period in there. I knew this beforehand based on pictures from another site, but I thought I should mention it here. It's not really all that noticeable, especially from a distance, but if you're looking to show off your leather case up close, seeing "P.SP" is kind of ugly. Didn't really matter for me. - This is not a soft case. The front and back panels and the flap are all rigid. They seem to be reinforced with cardboard or something similar. The inside is soft but not really all that padded. It should protect against minor knocks and stuff, but I'm not sure how much faith I would put into it for big drops. The rigid sides make for a snug fit... Getting the PSP in is easy since you just slide it in, but getting it out can be somewhat annoying. I usually just turn it upside down to let it slide out. Not too bad really. - The leather's not really high quality, but it still feels nice and does not cost very much at all. - The magnetic clasp works well. I have not had any problems with it so far. It attaches easily and is not easily detached by accident. - When your PSP is inside the case, the case will not form a perfect rectangle, which is kind of what I was expecting. It will bulge slightly at the top, with the top flap going up at a slight angle. I thought at first this was because of the Joytron Skin Case that I had on my PSP-2000, so I took it off and tried again but I still got the same results. That being said, a PSP with the Joytron Skin Case on will still fit inside this case. - The only storage space on this case is on the underside of the flap, which has two mesh "pockets" that are basically meant for holding UMDs. I found that these pockets can accommodate UMDs or spare batteries and still close completely, although it will bulge a bit more. When items are in these mesh pockets, the mesh presses against the panel underneath the flap, leaving a mesh impression on it. This case won't be ideal for everyone, but it works well and looks reasonably nice, especially for the price.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when ordering this seeing no other reviews for it on Amazon (this is the first). That said, I'm pretty pleased with this PSP case. Due to the dearth of information on the page, here's the rundown:
1. This case fits both PSP (PSP-1000) and PSP Slim (PSP-2000). I have both and they both fit. It was designed this way. 2. This case has two pockets (mesh type) for two UMDs. 3. This case is padded, but I wouldn't trust it to protect from a high drop. 3. It is leather and is very reminiscent of a pocketbook or checkbook cover (the leather ones). 4. Has a pocketbook-like magnetic clip that keeps it securely shut. It doesn't matter which size PSP you put in it. 5. It has a rather cheaply made lanyard with clip to attach to the case itself (not the PSP), but this could be easily replaced. The material seems to be rough nylon and appears to be somewhat frail. I'll probably remove it. 6. The interior is soft cloth that shouldn't scratch or damage the screen or surface of the PSP. For the price alone, this case should be considered. I've looked at a lot of other cases before and never seen one quite like this. If you're looking for a nice leather case for your PSP, either the original or the slim design, that will keep it a little anonymous and provide some padding and storage, then this is an excellent choice.

Not too shabby for the price,

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this case is more rigid than I was expecting. Both the front and the back are stiffened to protect your PSP. I wasn't too crazy about the magnetic "button" that closes it, but it hasn't been a problem yet. One concern is that the PSP fits very tightly into the case, enough that I unknowingly switched my unit on a couple times (not a happy surprise). I'd assume this will stop happening as the leather wears in, so I'm not overly upset about this. The only other thing I'd call attention to is the fact that there is NO additional storage, I knew this and was okay with it, but thought I should mention it here as a reminder to those shopping for a case. All in all I gave it four stars because it is "elegant" and does what it's supposed to; protects your PSP and takes up as little space as possible doing it. I'd recommend it!

I want to give this 5 stars because it is certainly getting an unjust bad rap with the reviews. The reviews almost prevented me from buying it. In fact, it delayed my purchase, and I regret it. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it is not the highest quality product, but for the price, it is extremely well worth it.
Currently there are three photos for this item, and all three represent exactly what I got. So I question if some people got something else because they bought by third-party sellers (not shipped by Amazon) on this page. Unfortunately, if you buy from third party, it is shipped by a guy who resells stuff he got at a dollar store and tries to find the best match. Therefore, you get something close to what you think you are getting. In other words, I have no clue what "this case leaks glue" means, etc. You will notice the photo of the case closed. Enlarge that photo and you will see the embossed letters "P.SP" on the corner. Again, this is exactly what you get if you order direct from Amazon. And I am thinking the "P.SP" is just a thing that was lost in translation from the maker. This is not a Coach Leather or Louis Vuitton case. It's a China import. For 5 bucks or less, you should not be surprised. There is a new smell that is not appealing. This is common with many imported items. You will notice many world import stores have items that smell like kerosene or chemical etc., which are merely methods of repellent for bugs and keeping them away from being shipped into the country. Well, this may be the situation here, but regardless, the chemical used to finish the leather, and to give it a glossy look. The smell would eventually go away with use. However, keep in mind that leather is simply skin, and needs lotion. Simply wipe on and off some leather lotion or oil on all the parts and the smell is gone. The pieces are not glued, but they are stitched. The interior of the section for the unit is a very soft fabric. Use a scented hand creme if you want. Anything that goes on your skin is safe for leather (not suede). Personally, I already have a very nice leather case that I spent five times as much for. It's high quality and soft, however, it exposes the sides and not really protecting the full unit. I wanted another option in leather, but something that enclosed the entire unit either in zipper or slide in form. This case is exactly what I wanted. Fits well with a sturdy magnetic clasp. Even with clasp open, the unit is still completely secure and covered. There is a wrist strap, which is fine, but removable at any time like a key-chain loop. There are two mesh pockets for two discs, so you can easily take three games with you. I don't really like the embossed "P.SP", but I will get over it. For now, it's a great second case.

Firstly, the case works fine. It does its job. That's the most important thing.
Now, for those of us who are picky: 1. The images don't show the imprinted lettering on the top right corner of the case (with the magnet closure on the right). It's a sans-serif font that says "P.SP" and it might not bother everyone. I did read about this in another review, but the lettering is much larger than I expected. Just thought I'd note it since the images don't show it. 2. The wrist strap that comes with it is not leather and metal. It's fabric and (I'm guessing) plastic that is painted silver. 3. The case is very tight with the PSP and two UMDs in it. The flap with the UMDs inside will leave an imprint on the leather covering the PSP. The magnet closure will still close -- so the case still works perfectly. Nothing major. Just not what I expected.

This Case Leaks Glue,

I will be short and to the point. This case looks sharp. However, be aware that the glue leaks from the seams and can get on your hands and PSP. The leather is of low quality and the case smells more like chemicals (probably the glue) than of leather. I reluctantly threw mine away.

When the decription of this case stated that it was "Genuine soft leather", that is what I was expecting. The material is closer to a "leather-like" material. I am returning this item.

Fist of all - that's one of the best cases in market. It's solid and working just fine. It looks like you have a wallet where you can but the whole parcel of money. And that's the only problem with that. It's just to noble to get street credit. So all of you 13 years old wannabe gangsters - forget it. That's for ricos only (and I'm sure there is a white version also for more exclusivity). Oh, and loose the hand strap, right.
